almost finished white kitchen, wood counters-need backsplash help
Comments (27)oh, momo...now I have google ann sacks and found those tiles...I JUST LOVE THEM. $83 per square foot, eh? Ay yi yi! I also found other tiles there that I love. Part of me almost wants to go nuts and ethnic and busy, since the rest of my kitchen is so simple. I am just afraid I will tire of it. Like this... (not this exactly, I just mean a busy, ethnic pattern. Kind of looks 70s to me, also.) cherry-Yes, we addressed the torso issue already! Yet another reason I want the mirror antiqued, and also not flat panes but rather tiles, so the "cuts" will break up the view a bit! I know what you mean, some of these threads get so long and I want to give my 2 cents but I just *know* one of my comments has probably already been made, but I say it anyway. Thanks for the input. You are not the only one with the opinion that with so much stainless and "coolness" I should go with warmth/color/texture. The things is...I see so many finished white kitchens similar to mine that have white tile as a BS, and I like them. I also like those pics that momo posted in her link, and they are white, with SS appliances, and mirrored BS and I think they look good. Well, I am torn and DH really wants me to make a decision so he can install. He wants the tile/color/texture look. I will keep you guys updated! Comments (14)DLM2000-member-gardenweb- Thanks SO much for the pictures you sent. I'm way too visual and they really help tremendously! I love the way it looks in your house and on the porch but prefer the look of it inside. I get the need to treat it outside though. We'll be using #2 cypress (with small knots) on the vaulted ceiling in our family room and also in our dining area. We too will have white painted beams and trim. I want to keep the wood as natural as possible but don't really want the 'reddish' tint cypress can have. Yours does not read red to me. Our floors will be a 5" LVT wood-look (great for sand & water) but I need to figure out what to do with ceiling first so I can blend the flooring. Thanks for your post!...See MoreWood Type/Stain Matching Help Needed!
Comments (12)Wow, I have never heard of gumwood! I looked it up though and it does look similar! I am trying to achieve as close of a match as possible so maybe I will look into that depending on if I can find it or not and how expensive it is! Then I was thinking I would bring the wood that I buy along with one of our cabinet doors or drawers into Sherwin Williams and see if they can match the stain. I am trying to figure out if I can buy just an available type of lumber and still match the stain so it looks the same or if I need to special order......See MoreFront Yard Needs Help (What do I do with this open space?)
Comments (7)It looks to me like you could stand to have the driveway widened a little, creating better access to the front entrance and getting rid of the patio pavers in gravel. Whether it's a simple widening or a drive re-do, it your choice. The former would work as an interim solution. It would be good to reconfigure the walk to the stoop to make it more useful and attractive. It could be standalone or part of a drive widening project. The logical place to create seating for impromptu gatherings is under the overhang at the right of the stoop. Because of the overhang, it's not a good area for growing foundation plants. If you park or drive at left of driveway, it looks like you may need to extend the driveway with a permanent driveway material. That would solve the packed mud problem. In general, you need a landscape plan for the front yard that includes both hardscape and planting. The speed with which you implement it, and whether it was in pieces or in total, would be up to you. As far as giving you specific solutions, the pictures are too small, fuzzy, dark & partial....See MoreKaitlyn Kirk
