Lighting Design Dilemma hallway

Lighting ideas for large 2 story foyer

We are changing out our lighting for our foyer and trying to decide on lighting. The two ceiling fan/lights will be replaced with fans only and we are trying to decide between track lighting or cable lighting as there is no additional wiring in the ceiling aside from the fans. This is a primary source of lighting for this room so want to do it right.

Not cable or track but rail lighting, go to www.techlighting.com They have the best rail in the biz as far as I am concerned. that being said you will only need one of the power sources for that . So this means by the front door you can still drop an entry fixture!! let me know if you need help sorting it out, it will not be a cheap project but it will be much much better than cable or track, you will have options galore!

True about the LED bulbs. And I agree about hating an off-center chandelier. That would drive me absolutely nuts! I was just on the Aladdin light lift website and they make lifts that are "remote mount." That might work in this situation. My contractor is looking into it.

You have a 228 inches ( 19' ) entry floor to second floor ceiling. You have a fixture totaling 107 inches with the mount and chain with 5" in that number for the mounting attachment, . You'd never want it less than eight feet off the floor to fixture bottom. Right ? So 11 inches is the ABSOLUTE MOST extra chain you could need or use.. My bet is you WON'T need another darn inch of chain !! The fixture bottom will simply hang with 108 inches "open" beneath it at entry foyer. And possibly more than that when it is held up for a visual using the whole six feet of chain : ) and the electrician actually REMOVES a few links.
