Main Room Decor Dilemma
Comments (31)I have to agree that I've seen the rug you're considering everywhere. There must be thousands of others that aren't so overused. Frankly, with the new rug you'll have a pretty well colorless and boring room, even though it is nicely furnished. I can't for the life of me understand why there is a sea of gray in so many houses. The latest word is that color will be in again, but of course it's always been "in" in my house, since I'd wither away otherwise. You're better off keeping your present rug than getting something "safe"....See Morefamily room decor dilemma, need ideas
Comments (20)I would not add blue to this room. The orange looks great, and suits the woodwork very well. The wall looks, to me, like it has some olive green tones in it. Green is the complementary color to orange, so that's why the walls and sofa look good, and go well with the rug which has both those colors. Blue would be jarring. The rug is a bit too small since the furniture does not touch it. I would face the sofa towards the fireplace with the rug in front of the sofa, with the sofa feet touching the rug. The gold chairs could go on either side of the sofa in a C shape, or remain side by side in an L shape conversation area. I'd put the orange pillows back on the sofa, and get new pillows for the gold chairs, in a solid green color taken from the rug. Consider a similar color for the drapes. I wouldn't put art over the fireplace, and definitely not a mirror since it wouldn't reflect anything interesting. Stick with sculptural items, maybe a bit bigger than the items you have now. Hang a piece of art work over each of those lovely bookshelves, a little lower than you currently have the one painting. Or even prop it on top. But don't put other things (vase, clock) on top of them. Too fussy and distracts from the woodwork. 2 desks is one too many in the room. Keep a desk on the wall where the guitar is, and leave the other wall free of furniture, as a walkway. Your white front door is a bit too bright, and doesn't look good with your woodwork. Paint it a green color, not too pale, that looks good with your pillows, rug and wall....See MoreLiving room decor dilemma
Comments (3)Try putting TV on angle in the right corner. Then put sofa on angle facing TV. The bag seat can fit under window. I would also consider moving the white table on other wall (where ironing board is now.). You need a cozy rug and a nice tall plant. Maybe some art. Not much wall space so art will have to be scaled properly. Nice space, but tricky to use with limited wall space....See MorePlease help me with the living room decor: curtains and wall decor
Comments (6)The rug is the wrong orientation in relation to sectional. Rotate the sectional so the chaise is on the fireplace wall. Or pull the sectional back, center it on the fireplace, and rotate the rug to center on the fireplace. And remove the pieces from in front of the fireplace so the rug can be closer to it. Can you separate the sectional into two pieces facing each other, one under the window and one on the wall -- and rotate the rug down the middle between them. That woud be ideal...you could see more of the rug. And get bold artwork for the long wall that will compliment the bold rug. Go to greatbigcanvas.com ,for a large canvas print..a fun site and reasonable. 60x40 or 48x32. I searched for peach and teal under Abstract and found these: https://www.greatbigcanvas.com/category/abstract-art/?color=382&color=398&shape=1...See Moregroveraxle
