Help concerning my newly repotted Meyer Lemon tree
Comments (4)I am using compact fluorescent at 18 watts to 23 watts. with a temperature range from bright white to daylight. on the citrus floor and warm white to bright white on the ground floor. My choice on bulbs is made by sales. All the pieces are precut and take about 2 hours to assemble and 1 hour to disassemble. It is used for the citrus trees and starting other seed trees to give them a 4 month jump on spring. The ground level is for vegetable starts in spring and growing greens in winter holding pepper plants from 1st frost till the some 50 peppers ripen. The 2 plant you see in the bottom are pepper plants ripening their peppers. Comments (4)Well, kind of depends on what you want - juice or eating out of hand. The Meyer is an outstanding lemon. I'm a big fan like John. I use the Meyer for cooking, all my lemonade, and for my Limoncello. But, I couldn't be without a Valencia orange, as that makes the best orange juice. I love my Cara Cara as I think it's the best eating out of hand navel orange. Navel oranges will produce juice, but navel oranges contain a much higher chemical that causes the juice to become bitter if refrigerated, so traditionally navel oranges, like the Cara Cara, are for eating out of hand, whereas the Valencia is for both eating out of hand and juicing. Here in Florida, there are so many investors out there looking for deals to flip and of course they have to get the house for alot less than what the seller wants so they can do the fix up and flip it or as perhaps in your case - rent it out(since he wants the furniture)and still make a profit. Go to you county's Property Appraisal's website and look at all the houses in your area (your street or subdivision) where the houses are similiar in size to yours. Look at the Just Market Value and see how yours compares. You can also find recent sales in your area to do comparables. Your realtor should have already done this for you but if he/she is being honest with you, the price you are asking should be in line with those that are in your area and are same age, size, tc. If you have insisted on pricing it too high (please don't take offense, DH and I have been there, done that too), then you may not be getting offers that you would if it were priced appropriately. For alot of people there is an emotional tie to their home, especially if it has been "the family" home for a long time. My next door neighbor has refused to let her SIL sell her home (she lives in another city with her DD and SIL. They have lawn care done on it weekly and yet she has not lived in it for over the last 10 years. You may also be having to compete with many foreclosures that are around or even short sales where people are trying to get out from under homes that they can no longer afford to make payments on and will sell if the bank will accept what they can get for it and forgive the difference. If this same guy has visited your home 5 times in 19 months, he is not in a real hurry to relocate and is bidding his time, wanting to haggle with you. If you know where he is from, you can go to that county's Property Appraisal site and put in his name. It will show you a list of all the properties he has owned or owns. Bet you he is an investor/renter/flipper as well as a used car salesman. We are assuming that you have your own realtor and are not trying to sell it on your own. Remember if so, his realtor is not working for you - you definitely need someone to represent your interests. I'd tell the buyer's realtor you will get back to him when and if you are ready to go that low but for now that isn't happening. Comments (21)Update, six weeks later. The tree doesn't want to go on the cart... Red arrows point to one sucker branch and one sucker bud(?). Purple dashed line is what I believe to be the graft scar. Green arrows point to what I hope are new growth above the graft. These appeared all within the last week; maybe due to the days getting longer, maybe due to a few degrees rise in temperature inside as some other inhabitants were running fevers. I have read on this forum that sucker branches are usually not desirable. Are they worth letting grow for a while, if they are the only source of active chloroplasts on the tree? My hunch is yes, but I admit knowing very little about the regrowth tendencies of Meyer lemons. My next question is whether the old branches are actually dead,or whether they have some hope of rejuvenation: Most of these branches used to be green, but are now brown or near black. Some show hints of green near the branch collar. Is it worthwhile to prune back branches which look brown, if that might encourage growth from the same collar?
