brand new stainless steel sink - brown stains/scratches
Comments (14)I am sorry Tibbrix, but I do not agree with your instructions. To clean a stainless steel sink, use Barkeepers Friend on a sponge (not a scouring ball or any abrasive pad), and dry with a paper towel or microfiber cloth. From the Kohler website: - Always apply stainless steel cleaner/polish with a nonabrasive cloth or sponge, working with, not across, the grain. - Do not use steel wool, wire brushes or abrasive sponge pads. - Cleaners containing chloride are not recommended. If used, rinse the surface immediately to prevent corrosion. From the Franke website: Never use steel wool to clean your stainless steel sink. Persistent stains, including rust, can be removed with a variety of mild non-abrasive stainless steel cleaners such as FrankeâÂÂs Inox cream, Autosol Shine, and others. Always rinse thoroughly after using any cleaner. As a sidebar, and I am sorry to contradict Hollysprings whose posts I always think are excellent, I have had 2 Silgranit anthracite sinks in previous homes with hard water, and neither ever showed mineral spots. This is one of the leading reasons why people choose Silgranit sinks over stainless steel. Exterior: Length (left-to-right): 18-1/2" (470 mm) Width (front-to-back): 15-3/4" (400 mm) Bowl depth: 8" (203 mm)...See MoreBest brand for stainless steel kitchen sink
Comments (18)As stated above, Franke makes terrific sinks. Have had mine almost four years now. The corners have rounded cutouts so it’s easy to chase bits of food, into the drain. Mine has an offset center drain, meaning it’s in the center rear of the sink, so large pots or pans don’t cover it. With any stainless sink, I recommend getting a stainless rack, which will help avoid scratching, and raises the dirty dishes, and allows the water to drain. Most have racks that are made for a particular sink. I got my Franke grid on Amazon....See MoreBest/favorite undermount stainless steel sink?
Comments (11)Please provide a budget. Any minute there will a couple posters popping up on here telling you that Rachiele sinks are the only sinks to get (they are not). They pop up like prairie dogs from the sand whenever they see the word "sink" in a post. And those sinks cost a couple thousands, to start. I recommend Kraus sinks because they are a lot of bang for the buck, and have such great reviews on this forum and elsewhere. You want a 16-gauge sink. Some people think an 18 gauge (thinner) sink is fine, but I agree with you about the tinny sound and feel. But since you can get a 16-gauge sink with Kraus for a reasonable price, there is no reason to get an 18-gauge one. Elkay sinks are actually a very good brand, but they do sell builders special sinks that are 20-gauge (which is probably what you have), while their finer 16-gauge sinks are expensive. I also recommend a rectangular single-bowl. What width sink are you looking for?...See MoreFeathers11
