CEFreeman, if I go DIY I will try Rub 'n Buff - I've seen that on blogs. But I think I would finish either brass look with a clear protective coat. I love the Japanese towel bar ones sooo much. But I don't think I can justify spending that much. Chisue, I'm not sure which pulls you referred to above? Lauraeds - I saw those or similar pulls in an kitchen and they look FANTASTIC! Can't wait to see your reveal. They would not be an option for me because clothing catching would be an issue - we are a clumsy family, myself included. Terri_pacnw - yes, I am appreciating the shape and proportions of the IKEA Tyda pulls. They are just so simple and clean-looking. And as I mentioned, I am liking how they *feel* - easy and comfortable to grab. I am usually whirling around the kitchen to get scratch dinners on the table after a long day of chores and homeschooling so details like that can make a difference. Robotropolis, like that Richelieu pull and I will look for it. For some reason I thought I already found that one and discounted it based on price, but I could be wrong. I have found Richelieu products to be frustrating - I've had trouble finding an actual dealer for a specific item. Thanks for the help, folks :)

Cup pulls look awesome. I have some on lesser used drawers. They aren't as functional though. Personally I would consider using the House of Antique hardware pulls I linked above for both cabinets, just in different finishes. I have them in the polished nickel and they have held up nicely in the year they have been installed.

what kind of black did she use? I have this Delta faucet that is going on 4 years and still looks brand new and it's 5 years for the shower and the sink faucets by Brizo. they're perfectly fine and spot free! (although I do get the little 'stalacites" on the rain head! you can pick them off the rubber bits I'm on the border of LA and OC and the city water is pretty hard. I suppose you could have more minerals in your water, but if that's the case, it doesn't matter what finish you choose. The key is to rub a protectant coating on the faucet (acts like a wax) to protect them from the water. YOu'll also need to wipe them down after use so the water doesn't sit on them and build up. You'd have to do it with the gold or brass just as often. IMO, the matte black doesn't show anything.
