Advice on Built in wood color and wall for open concept area

Hi all,

I'm planning to have a fireplace and storage built around the TV in the great room. I'm at a loss on the color of wood the console, floatng shelves, and the wall so it can blend in with the kitchen.

The kitchen cabinets are dark (which I like) and it has the modern feel I like. I was thinking of havng the floating shelves and console the same dark color, but I'm afraid it would make the room too dark.

I'm also purchasing a new coffee table with a lighter color wood that I'm hoping it would lighten up the room. I'm also thinking of getting new counter stools in the lighter wood. I have pictures on the coffee table and counter stools.

The paint on the wall is currently SW agreeable gray.

Like a mentioned earlier, I like the dark cabinets in the kitchen, but I would like to lighten up the area.

Can the console be a darker wood and have the floating shelves a lighter color wood? Oh gosh... my brain hurts.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

thanks !
