Do you put powder detergent in dispenser in front loader?
Comments (33)I was told by a repairman that liquids will leak into the machine and gum it up, especially if you use the delay feature. He recommended only powders for front loaders. As a result, when we recently had the dryer fixed, the repairman was surprised that my washer was in such great shape after 8 years. I never close the door after a load but let it dry completely before doing so. Also, every once in a while I throw a cup of white vinegar in with the load or put some in the fabric softener tray. I too was disappointed that Costco stopped selling their powder detergent. It was cheap and excellent....See MoreArm & Hammer Clean Burst Powder detergent
Comments (7)Greeny....Cleaning was great, although the large load of workout wear had no stains, just drenched in sweat :) Everything smelled clean and fresh, and I think you could use this powder....after 3 rinses, almost no scent left! Only real scent was clean!! MamaP...you are right, the box is HEAVY!! When I picked up a box of Fab powder, the box felt like it was filled with down feathers, but this A&H powder feels like bricks!! Yes, I remember a while back the A&H powder left things scratchy (but not as bad as with Sears powder). I did buy it because it was on sale for $4.67, LOL, and the scent was kind of amazing! I'm hoping infrequent use and employing 3 rinses each time I use it, will be ok....See More123 Powder Detergent

Comments (47)To answer OP's Original Question -- I like Ariel + Downy and Regular Ariel Powder from Latin America (Mexico). I purchase it at Hispanic Markets in my area, in Bags, and transfer it to a Cereal Keeper with a Scoop. It's a Conventional One-Cup Formula Detergent, manufactured by P&G (maker of Tide) and similar to what was sold here domestically through the early 90s. It contains Phosphates and Enzymes, and it cleans like nothing else. Not only that, but it rinses out of clothes easily, and leaves things softer than traditional Powders which rely heavily on Zeolites and Carbonates. I've also lost some interest / love for Conventional Tide Powder. Beyond, the fact that I hate current Original scent, the formulas have been re-done, and are loaded with more filler, and they don't clean as well. As for Boosters. STPP and Pure Sodium Percarbonate would be my favorites, followed closely by Biz. I don't now, nor have I ever loved OxiClean with all it's filler....See Morehafamily5
