Like the pergola over the garage door idea. If built to be sturdy enough to walk on it, then it could serve as a fire escape route should the need ever arise -- certainly hope it never does. You might also consider painting your step rails and side supports the same color as your siding unless you're planning to have a wood finish door and/or a rustic porch and post addition over the entry at a later date, in which case you'd want those additions to have the same wood finish. Your house looks more craftsman than country. Especially the design on the windows in the door and sidelights. That said, if the doors and sidelights are wood, I’d rather see the paint stripped and just stain the door a nice medium to dark stain. If they are not wood and need to be painted, I’d go with an olive green, but I actually like the yellow they are now and you could even go more into a mustard. The trim should not be painted to match the door unless you also paint the trim around all the windows. The window trim currently matches the trim around the door, which looks fine IMO. I’d even say strip and stain the window trim if that’s what you do with the door. Just my two cents. Hope you find a solution that you LOVE! Good luck!

Pool, I thought I’d love the navy, not sure why I don’t! I like it in Deco’s example. Maybe it’s just the mock-up — the lighting, door style, etc. Mock-ups can help somewhat, but of course aren’t exact. You made a lot of good points. Different colors really influence the personality of the house in different ways. My fav is the California Chamois, or something like it. It looks fantastic with the stoop and brings life to the house without being garish. I don’t love every color I posted, but just wanted to show a variety. I think shutters (especially white) would look awful on this house because the windows are different sizes and too close together for them to look right. Kathleen, if you decide on white for the door, you could bring in color with pots. Such a charming house. :) I hope you don’t paint the bricks. They bring personality and character. White brick would stain easily, peel, etc.
