Comments (18)Hi Aimeekitty, I agree with you that it's amalgam of fun, excitement and mystery when buying rare roses. When researching a rose, there are four invaluable resources - Gardenweb Rose Forums, fellow rose enthusiasts from the same climate zone, Helpmefind.com (HMF), local Rose Societies, and the rose breeder/seller. In my case with EuroDesert Roses, I ask for recommendations from Mr. Cliff when I do not find adequate information when researching a particular rose on HMF or other rose-related websites. My brother, Paparoseman, is an expert on OGRs and has a garden full of rare roses. He is the first person I approach when I have questions about about roses that thrive in zone 8a. Of course, members on the GardenWeb Rose Forums are an invaluable asset to the rose industry. They truly care about their fellow rose enthusiasts. I am ever grateful to these wonderful people! Oh...and you can also procure a wealth of information from your local Heritage Rose Society. This year, the bands from EuroDesert are much larger than the ones I got last year (which made me very happy!). Some of the roses from my latest collection from EuroDesert even have have buds on them. :) Here are the ones I got from EuroDesert: *Gonsoli Gaetano *Mons de Morand *Directeur Alphand *Avant Garde *Trump Card *Osiana *Milva *Lynnie *Ice folles Happy Shopping at EuroDesert's Sale! :) - Reem Here is a link that might be useful: EuroDesert Roses' Sale...See MoreThe End of June Cottage Garden - lots of pics
Comments (12)I really enjoyed the tour through your gardens. I love that you show such complete views as it helps me to visualize how different plants really look together. Yours is done beautifully. I love the yellow achillea and blue salvia together and I would really like to know where you got the Jupiter's Beard...can that be winter sown? I had to check what zone you are in because my cleomes haven't even budded up yet. Your garden is lovely and I hope you share more pictures. Comments (26)Straw, that's what I'm doing with thorny climbers ... growing them up my downspouts to deter thieves breaking into my house AND stealing my downspouts. I'm growing them right up the downspouts! They're copper and it's ridiculous these days what people looking for a quick buck will steal. I've planted Florentina and will be adding Phyllis Bide when she's grown up a bit. I'm still debating on this sale as I have to get a couple that are expensive shipped and still have my gift certificate from HCRs. I'll be going there next week to pick them out so maybe I need to give this a miss until next year. I did really want Purezza and a couple of others so I reserve the right to change my mind. : ))...See MoreAnn9BNCalif
