Have any of you tried 'Mushroom Stuff'?
Comments (9)That's actually not true, gardengal. A huge number of herbaceous plants, including perennials, annuals, and grasses develop mycorrhizal relationships with a wide variety of fungi. I've seen them myself on tomatoes during one experiment, and an assortment of annuals during another. A healthy number of colonized roots can improve the growth vigor of most plants. The trick is to match the strain(s) of fungi with the kind of plant. One outstanding exception that I can remember are those plants within the Brassicaceae family. Their roots have or exude a substance that is toxic to mycorrhizae. Mycorrhizal inoculations for turfgrass can be a huge benefit, and I've seen dramatic results on golf courses during several experiments. Inoculated areas were greener with less water, fertilizer, and fungicide. Turfgrass roots very readily form mutually benefical relationships with the right fungi! I have no idea what's in this 'Mushroom Stuff', however. Never heard of it. ;-)...See MoreHave any of you tried straw bale gardening yet?
Comments (6)Hi all, I'm new here to this forum and to gardening in general but we did try a straw bale garden this year and we live in Gautier, MS here on the Gulf Coast. So far our straw bale garden has worked out fabulously. We haven't had any issues so far with overwatering. We use a soaker hose underneath a layer of potting mix to water the plants. Due to the nature of the straw bale itself, I don't think you can over-water it. The excess just runs out the bottom. I have noticed a slight algee growth on the topsoil but it has not seemed to affect the veggies yet. There is almost no weeding required for the garden and there are fewer bugs to deal with as well. These are some pics from about a week ago and everything is more than twice this size today. I'll try to keep you updated on the progress as we go along and share our lessons learned....See MoreHave any of you tried a hairstyle app?

The first two look a little like mine if I go to bed with my hair wet! I just grabbed them from a google image search of medium-length curly hair. They do look messy in some eyes, but I can't find a way to make curly hair like mine look neat without a significant amount of time. And this "messy" look is in style now. Last weekend, I was at an outdoor sporting event and took a break from the wind by getting a coffee at a local shop. My hair looked like the first photo I posted--I literally had just gotten out of bed and did nothing to it that morning. The young girl who served me coffee complimented my hair. Her words were, "By the way, I love your hair." (I wanted to hug her... they probably train them to say that to women my age!) I'm 45, and to have someone more than 20 years my junior give me a compliment--trained or not!--made my day. Yes, I'm both vain like that and appreciative that, at my age, I still have some flair. Call it messy. For me, it's easy and makes me feel good. I'll take it!...See MoreHave you tried any new products/food/clothes that you're happy with?
Comments (137)Thanks! Oakley -yay for Aquage! That brush looks amazing. Funkyart which style do you think runs wider? My feet feel much better. My left foot doesn’t hurt at all anymore when I have them on. The right foot still does but I suspect it will take awhile for that foot to settle down. I really need a pair of comfortable (standard work with almost anything black) boots/booties but don’t really like their styles. Theres one that’s ok but I wish the toebox was shaped a little different. Going to order more sandals. Im going to look into some of the other sandals mentioned here too. Thanks Eld. Yeon -The small bottle (they have a large size too) has a dropper and I just put a drop on the applicator and run it along the top. Another drop for the bottom and drop right at the beginning of the spooly brush to use on my brows. It sounds like a lot but I have over half a bottle still. I don’t recommend brushing the oil on the lashes with the spooly brush (mascara wand) because the oil is so thick it just beads up. It’s kind of gunky feeling but doesn’t irritate the eyes at all. I do it right before bed and sleep with it on. In the morning I just rub my eyes. It seems some of its absorbed in because there’s less. ETA - Thanks for suggestions about exercises. I was thinking there was probably stretches or something I could do to help. I'll check it out. Justerrilynn -They look great! And nice ZZ plant too....See More1929Spanish-GW
