I entered that garden design contest.
Comments (10)Yay! I'm glad you entered. Now, I hope everyone here who enjoys seeing your photos and reading your posts about what you are doing will remember to go to that linked website every day to vote. Even if you don't win, I am proud that you'll be showing the world what a gardener in a very hot place like southwestern Oklahoma can do with edible landscaping in the front yard. I truly believe seeing your garden will inspire some people to kick the lawn habit and put in an edible landscape. I don't know if you ever go to the Potager Forum here at GW, but if you don't, I'd like to suggest you visit it and post photos of your garden and show them what you're doing. I think the folks there would love to see and hear about what you're doing. Good luck! Comments (12)polly929: check out these opportunities...maybe one is the show with the handyman who does come to your house to complete what dh didn't finish! Yay Sweeby! Love that room! Don't be discouraged by the % thing...I don't think it is a reflection of your votes at all. I like not being able to see the votes actually. It's a little less stressful. And as you read in the rules. the votes are only a suggestion to the judges who should be "judged". So of course, so many hurdles. And at least your room is finished. Did you see the one with the paint samples on the wall and all the furniture in the middle of the room? Another made a comment about her "contractor"---ummmm wasn't this a DIY contest? oh well. I entered for fun. Thanks mcraney for the post, I couldn't bring myself to ask for votes here. I'm sure people would ask me to leave GW! And polly--you should enter too. The contest is still open, and it's not like only one, or make that 2 GWers can enter! -Bee Here is a link that might be useful: Casting calls on HGTV...See MoreChoosing my entry for photo contest
Comments (72)Just realized you did show it with no mat -- I think that is better, but would try a black mat too. I think it needs something -- the no mat looks a bit severe or off. Trying to figure out what the fix is. Can you try a little less mat on the NYC photo? If not, it is a classic look and works, so don't fret over than one. I like the way turf church looks framed. Good choice with the double matting. I bet the lupines would look great too. The landscapes really are lovely and I hope you find a way to enjoy them at home. Does your .TV have a screensaver? You could display them all! The vertical rainbow is really unusual, and I like that about it, but the idea of a fallen rainbow makes me sad at the same time. It's interesting the impact that image has....See MoreEntering Cooking Contests
Comments (20)Yeah, better than Paul Revere because I could have gotten four tickets to the concert for $12 each, so the electric credit is worth $2 more, LOL. Paul Revere was a hoot though, and although my girls had never even heard of him, they enjoyed themselves a lot, even got autographed t-shirts. The recipe? This was the favorite recipe of Sheshebop's husband, our dear departed Roger. I do make my own pasta for this recipe, and I always use bulk Italian Sausage, never slices, but whatever a person prefers is what they should use. I understand that the Cooperative has a chef that makes these recipes for tasting and judging and that commercial pasta was used, so if you don't feel like making pasta, buy some Barilla (or your brand of choice)! I also never use the wine, I just use chicken stock, but again, it's all your choice. Sausage and Mushroom Pappardelle 8 ounces pappardelle pasta 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 red bell pepper, sliced 1 onion, thinly sliced 4 links smoked turkey sausage, sliced 3 cloves garlic, minced 6 large mushrooms, sliced pinch of red pepper flakes 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary 1 cup cream 1/2 cup sweet marsala wine kosher salt parmesan cheese for garnish Bring a large stock pot of water to a boil then generously salt with kosher salt. Add pappardelle pasta and cook until al dente then drain, reserving 1/2 cup pasta sauce. While pasta is cooking begin cooking the sauce. In a 10-inch skillet over medium-high, heat olive oil and then add red bell pepper slices and onion and cook for 4-5 minutes or until onion softens, stirring occasionally. Season with kosher salt, add mushrooms and cook for another 3 minutes. Add garlic, turkey sausage and red pepper flakes and cook until turkey is warmed through, about 3 minutes. Add cream, marsala, tomatoes and rosemary to skillet and cook for about 3 minutes or until sauce thickens and tomatoes soften. Gently fold in pasta to skillet until coated. If you'd like more sauce, add reserved pasta water one tablespoon at a time or another pour or two of cream if you want a heavier sauce. Garnish with parmesan, kosher salt and more rosemary if desired. Serve immediately. Annie...See More- 4 years ago
