Bluebird chick mortality

HU-776111991

OK bluebird lovers- Over the past 4 years I've recorded a mortality rate of more than 50% in my 2 bluebird boxes. I routinely clean and disinfect after each brood has fledged. I particularly observe this when there is 4/5 eggs in the nest. My question is would you recommend the removal of eggs(ie more than 3) in an effort to promote survival, or in your experience do you remove dead chicks from the nesting brood and let things take their course?
