Comments (7)I like #3 by far also. The vertical placement of the knobs on the cabinet doors helps looks great and I think that the difference in size is actually a good thing because it breaks ups all of the sameness and looks purposeful, not like you just turned the knob on its side. It's so exciting when the cabinets are installed because you can really see your room coming together. When you can hold the knobs and pulls against the actual cabinets, the best choice may become more obvious. I had chosen a RH pull which I planned to turn vertical on my doors. Once my cabinets were installed, I felt that would be too many of the same fairly large pull and instead found a different manufacturer's knob for the doors that I absolutely love. I'll try to get a picture posted later today. This weekend, our 10 1/2 month masterbath reno should be DONE!!...See MoreAny one have all knobs or pulls on doors but knobs on drawers
Comments (7)Knobs on the uppers-all doors, pulls on the lowers-mix of doors and drawers. Here's my reasoning: the pulls won't catch on my clothing or on the grandkids...and it's easier to put the child safety cabinet locks through the pulls. I don't know if either of those issues apply to you but our 5 visiting munchkins range in age from 12 months to 9 years so we needed to consider their safety in some of our decisions. I'm in the process of marking off the hole so DH and I can install the hardware tonight when he gets home...if I absolutely hate it I'll let you know. That's my 2-cents worth....See MoreDrawer/Door Pulls/Knobs - Yay or Nay
Comments (9)The cabinet hardware doesn't have to match the stainless. What style is your kitchen? A picture would help with suggestions. If you use knobs on the cabinet doors, it should not look like metal overload. Depending on the style, even pulls on the doors may be fine too. We have a traditional kitchen with stainless appliances. I used antique nickel hardware. It's still in the silvery color, but muted, and the shape is not sleek, so doesn't look anything like the appliances. This is the first kitchen I've ever had with cabinet hardware. We've always had finger-pull cabinets before, and I won't ever have them again if I can help it. I love the hardware. It's so much easier to use than grabbing the cabinet door/drawer....See MoreShort pulls on big drawers? Or do I have to do double knobs?
Comments (20)Good things to think about--thanks! I ordered a few knobs/pulls and will test them for sharpness. I can put them in my bathroom for a test run. I decided my paper mockups don't do a good job of representing the bulkiness (or lack of bulkiness of the pulls; I needed to cut out the middles. Zwizzle, I agree with you on the function of one pull (or knob, or whatever). It just seems right for function. These drawers are big (in addition to being wide, the interior space is about 28" front-to-back), and will hold heavy stuff, so if I think I'll be tugging from one offcenter handle, I should avoid the 2-handle setup. Maybe I can mix a large rectangular bar with these pulls if they pass the pain test. So, back to knob shopping. Do y'all think black is the way to go for handles that don't stick out? The countertop here will be stainless steel, faucets and (probably temporary) lights chrome, but house-ish metals are brass (doorknobs, window hardware, etc.). I think a dirty brass might be alright but I don't want anything sparkly. At least I don't think so....See Moredonnalorenz
