I think smokey blue will be pretty. I went with a blue green in our bathroom but it looks more green than anything. Also with marble similar to yours.

*edited to add: be sure to look at grout samples with the tile AND paint colors. My tile guy suggested a light gray until he saw the cabinet color, then we went with Oyster Grey - a more tan gray. Photos on this thread, if you're interested.

I think I really want a color. I view this bath has belonging to my sons, my young men. I feel a color is more their style.

I do love walnut though, I think I can incorporate the walnut and the blue. This ideas sent me down a rabbit hole of walnut pulls, and look at all the yumminess:

So now I am thinking smoky blue vanity and linen cabinet with a walnut mirror and walnut pulls. The faucet is polished chrome. What are thoughts on metal finishes? And lighting?

I think a glossy navy blue would be nice. Beautiful floor tiles and countertop.

Just a thought...I don't know the age of your sons, but wood would be more durable than a painted finish. I notice that the paint on edges right under my sink get really worn and I'm pretty careful. Whatever you choose, I can tell it's going to be a beautiful bathroom.

I like your line of thinking with the walnut mirror and incorporating some walnut in the handles. It seems to add some masculine touches without going overboard. I would try to use either all walnut handles or something with walnut and polished chrome. And I still like your smokey blue cabinet idea.

I like the idea of adding the walnut elements to the room.

Another idea to ponder - we did our bathroom cabinets in cypress (not pecky, did not want all the holes) and did a 2 coat painted "wash" (basically on with brush, off with rag) so the grain still shows through. You pretty much have to be standing at cabinet to see, but the finish is more durable than a regular painted finish. It is coated with a non-yellowing clear coat by Ben Moore, Benwood, (here) that comes in three finishes. We used Low Lustre.

I am considering some deeper blues and the greens suggested by Annie too. I am loving the walnut accents and wouldn't have thought of that without your input.

Fun2BHere- my 'boys' are both having birthdays this summer and turn 20 and 18; they are rarely here. More importantly they know their way around a toolbox. If they damage it, they fix it. Preferably before mom ever sees the damage. :)
