What is my Cauliflower doing?
Comments (5)Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Is this buttoning? Probably due to the heat and/or lack of water while sprinklers were being repaired. Are these edible? I am not sure I am brave enough to try!...See MoreWhy do I beat my head against a wall?
Comments (6)My sympathies, John. It's the same when I sell a car with no warranty on it. They come back with some little problem and I have it fixed. They come back with another little problem; I try to work it out the best way I can. It ends when they finally blow up at me for reminding them the vehicle was sold with no warranty, after they realize they want a new car at a used-car price. A number of times, the boss will tell me to just give them their money back----you can forget it by then---He** will freze over first, after what they've put me through because the car wasn't perfect! BTW, I ALWAYS encourage customers to have the car checked out by a reliable mechanic before they buy it... After days like that, I dump a little Amaretto in my hot tea when I get home that night! :o)...See MoreI have a crazy story, what to do next.
Comments (31)If you need accessible design, this isn't it. Think about sitting in a wheel chair and how many pushes it's going to need to move how many feet forward. Think about the difficultly of navigating every turn and every flooring change. Think about minimizing the distance and obstacles between the 3 critical areas of the home for a person...kitchen, toilet and bed. There are numbers available on how much turning circle is needed in front of things like toilets and width of doorways. Mom was in a wheel chair with a broken leg for 4 months and the only way she could get into the bath was to enter across the hall through her kitchen doorway as the hallway was too narrow to make the turn. If you have to get a new builder, this might actually be a good thing. It will give a fresh eye and you can build upon all the things you've learned through the process so far to achieve an even better and more cost effective design which more precisely meets your needs and goals....See MoreWhat is wrong with my cauliflower head?
Comments (6)Some call it "ricing" (fuzzy with leaves in the middle of the head), some call it "buttoning" (button size curds) and some call it bolting if it first looked normal but small. Bottom line it is a response to poor environmental conditions ie: early heat or frost exposure (I'd guess heat in your zone), excess nitrogen, inconsistent soil moisture levels, rootbound when transplanted, etc. Cauliflower can be very picky about its growing conditions.
