I specifically did not post one because the cabinets are in and i don't really need opinions on how the layout is all wrong. ;) Island size is 144x 54 sink in the middle. The pendants are task lighting, the kitchen has 6 cans that provide additional light.

Ceiling height? That is a fairly petite fixture

ceiling height is 10', open to living room, so I prefer glass, but textured because I am not the best housekeeper.

Also have been eyeing these, but the price is much higher. I probably need to open my options up to a cheaper style. I have a few schoolhouse lights in the build.

If those are task lighting pick something else. These use Edison bulbs which are not for task, and also most of the light will leak out of the glass, task lighting needs to direct light down and also needs a good task light bulb that can be dimmed as well.

RL the other reason I am wanting seeded glass (or at least not clear) is because I will not be using Edison bulbs. I will have dimmable LED's

They will not look right in those fixtures. Seedy glass will not help that, the general issue will then be glaring light coming out of the fixture, and light will be lost around the room with no focus.

here are clear glass pendants with regular bulbs. Notice the counters are not lit at all and the bulb is glaring at you.

Following this because my kitchen is almost identical to yours without the door. Island is same dimensions . I need to select pendants also but putting it off. I assume a fairly substantial size, my ceilings are 12’, kitchen 22’ wide. Just guesstimating it I assume I need pendants approximately 8-10” wide & about 16-18” high, but I’m no sure.

The hood is THE focal point. Don't detract from that with pendants in the way. Put in extra recessed lighting and skip any pendants. They will only be in the way, and be too many competing focal points.

BTW, what countertop have you chosen that will span 147"?

Than if they are decorative go with what you like the pendants in the picture are probably close to the size of the ones you like. But use Edison bulbs not LED.

And don't kill me put the lights over the window are not scaled right and look kinda cheap in comparison.. i know i just don't have a better word. those should be polished nickle or brass and be scaled up

So you need bigger and fewer pendants or more and smaller. A few pics for you.

You need 3 larger pendants for such a large space.

And I disagree with LW about the focal point. You can do lights and have it work well.

If you wanted the pendants to be the star, the hood should have been much simpler, and the same color as the rest of the wall cabinets. You chose a contrasting color and more complex shape. And a contrasting island. And bookmatched stone.

You are out of focal point chips. 3 per kitchen only. You don’t get to have 7 clowns in a 3 ring circus. You are venturing into the too many clowns territory with pendants hanging in front of your focal point hood. Pendants that won’t even properly light your focal point island.

If if you want focal point pendants, the hood needs painting white as a start. That might not be enough. It will have presence even when white.

That forest of mini pendants is is pretty darn awful, and absolutely nothing to emulate. Ugh.

The builder put electrical for 4 pendants spaced across but I’m not crazy about that many even with large open room.

3 larger is the magic there, the sizes you are looking at are good. Is the sink centered to the hood behind?

RL Relocation got the size right. Make sure the pendants are centered over the eating area and since you have 10' ceilings, I'd put the bottom of the pendants at 42" from the counter.

I also agree with RL that I'm not in love with the sconces over the windows. They look and feel out of place. I think I would have preferred smaller versions of whatever pendants you chose for the island or just cans.

I disagree with GD on this one in terms of stars. I think it will look fine with the 3 pendants and I don't consider pendants to be stars but supporting players. Now if you chose chandelier type pendants, I might feel differently.

As for the number of stars, it depends how you do it. By GD's comments, my kitchen should be a hot mess since I have my counters as a star, my stained glass window as a star and then my pendants. And I have lots of supporting players.
