Powder room accent wall ideas?
Hi everyone,
I am now thinking about the design for the powder room for my new house. It is a small space with a tall ceiling (10'). I would like to do an accent wall behind the vanity, but I also want to play up the height in that space. I came across this photo online:
I love how the mirror there is totally playing up the height of that space! I also love the dark accent wall behind the toilet, and the tiles are gorgeous.
However, if I do not want to do a tiled wall, which is very expensive, what other suggestions do you have please? I am open to all sorts of ideas that will create a dark feature wall with geometric patterns, so it is not just this particular pattern in the photo.

Comments (4)Regarding accents for your powder room - they work better when they are a different color than the back ground. Your art blends into the wall since it has a reddish frame. A black frame would make the art stand out from the wall. I like the floor vase but not with the wall paint. Gold or red might be nice, but we cant really say since we cant see the rest of the room. As for how to do it, I would paint the wall black and then cut several pieces of mdf of various sizes. Attach the mdf to the wall and paint the entire thing. I did something very similar with this cabinet that is in my dining room.

As for wallpaper, I just found this online.... what do you think?

4 years agolast modified: 4 years agoThere is a relatively new product called Motion by AKDO (a tile maker). It's a slate composite that is engineered and adhered to a backing (similar to wall paper). Has the advantage of being able to wrap corners or cylindrical surfaces, and is of course quite thin compared to real stone. It does need a pro (not wallpaper installer) to install it but installation is a fraction of the cost of a tile or stone install. I think we did this one below for about $400 (not including the cost of the product). We've done a few fireplace surrounds with it as well. Interesting look. Something different.
