My new furniture (phase 1) has arrived!
Comments (23)Here's a ventilation trick for an OLD IT person. When you want to stack components and the idiot manufacturers put their ventilation holes on the tops or bottoms? Or you have very little space? Take a dry sponge and cut it into sections. (It's easier to cut when wet, though.) Use the pieces of sponge as "footers" for stacking your pieces. The nice thing is that sponge also absorbs black felt marker... Twist ties or they make a black plastic tubing thing that controls cords, too. Catalogs such as Harriet Carter sell them for very little, so don't pay much. But of course, I'd wait until you get the correct piece! ROTFL! That's something I'd do. But I'll bet they're both beautiful. :) Christine...See MoreBed has arrived! (PICS- w/ new paint) Need bedding help :)
Comments (30)Okay- let's talk bedding. I have spent hours searching (online and in stores) and I keep coming back to the RH bedding. So I went back to my store today. They were out of about half of what I needed and wanted so I ordered it (w/ free shipping) and I should have it ALL by the end of the week. Here is what I decided on. 1 King Duvet Cover in the 18th Century Medallion (in link above.) Pacific, so it does have a hint of blue. 2 Matelasse King Euro Shams in Fog (also linked above) 2 Lumbar "accent pillows" in cashmere.. one for each sham. I brought home 2 colors- a gray and an icy blue and need to choose. 1 Matelasse coverlet to act as a blanket- will be between the duvet cover and sheets. ***bought in Eucalyptus which is an icy blue color. The salesman talked me into this and I an really second guessing this for 2 reasons. #1- $179 is a LOT of money for a blanket that might not been seen. I could find a blanket at HomeGoods for $39 that would be fine. #2- *if* I stick w/ it, should I exchange it for Fog (color) so it matches the shams?? I really like the pop of color, but let's say, in the summer time, I decide to let the coverlet show more... wouldn't I want it to match the shams? Or am I trying to be too matchy-matchy??? (a problem of mine.) Wdyt??? Solid choices? I do need to get a king, light weight duvet on order. Any recs? I will go ahead and link the Matelasse coverlet again... *if* I keep the coverlet, should I switch to Fog? wdyt? thanks! Comments (7)Pillows: we're getting more of the floral--we just don't have them yet. I really like them with all three colors. The only purpose of the window treatments is to look nice and balance the room. We don't need light control or privacy. Staggered: I guess I think it would look interesting and add interest to that high area I find so hard to decorate. (It would also add to our bookshelf area, which can only be a good thing, given the boxes of unshelved books we have) "Own the top of the bookcases"--sorry it's a family term for who gets to make the decisions. I "own" the guest room and my office. He "owns" the garage and his den. Each of the kids "own" their own rooms. All it means is that I want him to give in and let me do that part. Depending on how I measure, it's about 8 feet from the front of the yellow sofa to the chair, and 10.5 feet from the green sofa to the chair. I've never been really clear on whether an area rug should be under the front legs of its furniture, have the furniture all the way on it, or be in front of the front legs.) Thanks!...See MoreIt has arrived..New Zealand Lemonade
Comments (83)Laura, you enabler you! ! :D The Giant Key Lime was one citrus I have seriously considered ordering. I have two Mexican Key Limes, a Kaffir, and a Bearss Lime currently, after I receive my next order from Harris, hopefully later this week, I still want to place an order later this fall with Four Winds for Santa Teresa Lemon and Bergamot Sour Orange etc.. My collection is increasing and I want to make sure I get the ones I have been coveting and that I have room for all of them come winter. After that, if they make it through the winter alright, and my hubby and I finish building another upcycled GH, I will possibly add a few more... Hobby, thank you for the concern about the soil settling and the roots showing. :) I actually filled the pots up just a bit under the rim so I would still have room to water without overflow. The pot on the right had more roots showing than I would like, so I did cover them up a bit more this morning after I watered. I don't mind having a few roots showing though. From what I researched and read, the Bearss Lemon cultivator was selected in a Grove in FL. The parent tree was planted in 1892, supposedly. Description: Is a fast growing tree, very productive, very fragrant blooms and bears an abundance of very juicy acidic fruit July through December. Tree is vigorous, thorny, and sensitive to cold. Bearss out produces both Eureka and Lisbon. The flavor is outstanding. Has up to six seeds per fruit. A true lemon. This lemon is grown in Brazil, much appreciated for its fragrance, . Most of the crop is eaten fresh, some is used for rind oil. I read a lot of positive reviews on the Bearss and heard the fruit has outstanding flavor and slightly larger than Eureka. Win Win for me!! Hobby, the Baboon Lemon would be a good one to add to your list also.. the leaves smell divine!! :)...See Morehollybar
