Civil War quilt is finally done!
Comments (21)Your quilt is beautiful. I like your quilting too. It's always nice to finish a project especially a big one. I keep a quilt diary showing what I accomplish each day and it's always a thrill to write "IT'S FINISHED!!" TFS. ~Geraldine...See MoreQuilt top finished-quilting advice welcome!
Comments (21)Great first quilt!!! Look on your batting wrapping and it will give suggestions as to how close (or far apart) the quilting should be. The one I am using now suggests 2". I am just learning to machine quilt (about 5 years now lol) and I love anything that doesn't have to be marked. With SITD it is sometimes not easy to stay in the 'ditch', but when the quilt is washed it doesn't show as much. The scrappy Irish Chain I am making for my sister is going to be mostly quilted on the diagonal. You can always mix it up and do different quilting designs. Have Fun! Comments (20)Thank you, all! Rosajoe: I worked hard to make the mitered corners on Robert's quilt come out so matched. After all these years mitering should be easy and natural but each time I have to really think it through and fuss with it until I'm happy. These were worth the effort. :~)) Kristene: I love that Mount Fuji panel. I bought enough yardage to include 4 panels at a quilt show a few years ago, not sure what I would do with them. Two were used last year for a comfort quilt and matching bag for my boss whose daughter was ill. Then the last two went into this quilt. I've never been to Japan but it's on my Bucket List. I'm really drawn to Oriental prints and images. Kate This is the lap quilt I made last year with the same Fuji panel:...See MoreChristmas Stars Quilt done - pic
Comments (26)WOW!!! I was in this first group...and I was planning on making a small wall hanging along with placemats from the blocks I received. However, after seeing this beautiful quilt, I may change my mind! What I love best is the gold and red sashing. It's perfect to separate the blocks. You did a wonderful job with the design of this quilt! Judy (my block is the center one in the bottom row)...See Moremsmeow
