Spanish Revival Cottage / White Vinyl Windows
Comments (16)kathy, i grew up in the same area in the 60's as well. when those homes were originally built, they were in the white shades. no purple or green! lol. Original (as in adobe homes in the southwest) Spanish type homes were done in those pale colors to reflect heat. Obviously now it doesn't matter, but if you wanted to stay true to period color, the whites/pale yellows creams, would be the way to go. this is one of my faves because of the patina green trim and hardscape work. Her white vinyl windows is somewhat limiting with her colorsthis one is similar to hers because of the lower bricks. but again, windows are trimmed out in the same color as stucco along w/a dark green. not sure the white would work here. this bright white would work w/her windows. perhaps she could somehow bring in some of this green trim work via the door, the concrete steps/patio(repaint in the green color) and the posts. Elizabeth, another option you could try is to do your posts in the wood like they've done here and maybe trim out your windows w/wood or even the spanish tiles. I also like this window awning they've done here. replacing yours w/the fabric type would update yours quite a bit. and these bougainvillea are always a must next to these white houses! fruitless olive tree would also look nice, as well as bright color ceramic pots...See MoreExterior colour for Spanish Revival
Comments (13)For anyone reading this post in the future, we settled on a Sherwin Williams 7106 colour called Honied White! We took it down by 25% so that it wasn’t too dark. Also, every white we chose that had a bit of yellow base in it, we were told would fade within 6 months. This honied Yellow is apparently a good base so it wouldn’t have the same problem. We’re not completely finished. I think another coat is to still go up, plus we’ll be doing our steps as well, but this is more or less the reveal!! Thank you you for all the help we were given! We’re quite inlove with the outcome. One before picture and two afters!...See MoreSpanish Revival in The Pines

Comments (14)Well first let me pick my jaw up off the floor. Wow, your historic home is so beautiful and it is wonderful you want to preserve it. My first question to an installer would be, “If you remove the existing quartz countertop by the range and install a new one one, what are the chances of cracking or chipping that amazing tile on the bottom row? Could it damage the plastered hood side pieces that go down to the counter? I think I would have a nervous breakdown if it they did! I know you said you don’t love the ceasarstone, but it does look to be a perfect match in color to the plastered hood. The simple plain off white looks so nice because it does not detract. It allows the tile and hood remain the main focus. If there is any question as to damage, I would leave that range area alone. If so, I would leave the perimeter alone as well and do a beautiful wood countertop on the new island. I notice many kitchens in that style used wood on the island. But if no issue, then out of the two samples, I like that second one with the gold vein. I look forward to seeing how it turns out. Whatever you decide, I am sure it will be awesome! I found this kitchen showing a plain white perimeter with wood on the island....See Morejck910
