Help with kitchen updates and design
Comments (7)Apparently this is a very common problem. I googled it and found found tons of threads with the same complaint and many articles on the subject. Personally I would hire a local designer and have them help you select a new wall color that will warm up the kitchen and help you like the cream cabinets or make them look whiter. It’ll be less expensive than painting the cabinets if cost is a factor. But if you really want white cabinets, which in my mind gives you a little more flexibility with wall colors, you should probably paint them. I think slate appliances would look fine. Here is one thread i thought was interesting. Comments (4)You can probably just buy new LED lights for your existing track. I has the large cans and found three small modern looking heads with colored glass lenses at ReStore for $1 each and just bought LED bulbs at IKEA to replace the halogen lights. You will need to remove one of the existing heads to check the type of track, some has 2 conductors and some have 3, some are line voltage and others are low voltage. The lights usually push against the rail and twist out or might have a pull down spring loaded connection. They might be a little stiff but shouldn't be too tough to remove so keep trying until it pulls out without needing too much force. I have known people to just pull and end up breaking the little tabs on the connection to the track...See MoreHELP-Kitchen update dilemma...Quartz/Trilium, paint colors
Comments (2)I would not spend that kind of money on old cabinets with worn spots. Start from the beginning and get a KD in there. You may have to save and wait to do what you want, but what you're suggesting is "lipstick on a pig". Sorry to be so brutal but we've seen this happen SO many times on GW, and 2 years later, owner is wondering if she can reuse her very expensive countertops. The answer is usually "probably not"....See MoreHELP! Kitchen updates
