Help me choose flooring, please....
Comments (26)Bumping... We visited a floor store this weekend and brought home many samples of laminate and vinyl floor planks, all wood-look. I think we are leaning towards one of the higher end laminate wood-looks and using it throughout the foyer, DR, and whole kitchen. My new questions are: Does high-end laminate scratch or scuff under barstools or dining table chairs? How does high end laminate hold up under water? The salesman we talked to was very confident that the choices we took home would be fine in areas where there could be water from time to time. What sort of wood tone should I look for that will look nice with the maple cabinets in the kitchen, and the dark cherry dining set in the DR? Does anyone think I would be better off design-wise with tile-looking laminate in the kitchen, then wood-looking laminate in the foyer/DR?? (don't want real tile, too hard and too cold for my tastes) Also, does anyone know anything about vinyl planking? The sample we looked at had a lot of nice texture and was realistic looking. Might be a nice option since it will be in the kitchen and foyer, both watery places from time to time. It is a floating floor that glues at the seams on tabs that interlock. Thank you again for your input....See MoreMe again.....Les, others help please
Comments (30)funkyart, OMG, I have never heard of wine stave tables, but this is exactly what I've been trying to find. The flea market where I got these iron pieces had this guy who took old semitruck beds (very thick, distressed wood) and bowling alley wood and used them on the top of various repurposed bases/cabinets. One was a kitchen island that I would have bought in a heartbeat if I would have had a place for it. The link to his website is below. This is a very similar feel. Sorry for the sidetrack, but I love that look, and I love some of their end table pieces. les, you provided a fresh perspective and lots of good food for thought! I suspected that I was all over the place with design styles, and I'm not going for a Native American feel, just like the art. I think I am style disabled as I know what I like when I see it, but don't know how to get there, what the style 'category' is, or how eclectic I can get away with and still look ok. If I went with the style of table that funkyart linked, could that work, and if so what style direction does it take me?? I like the sectional, but would eventually like to replace the tv cabinet and coffee table piece....just not high priorities as they are functional and 'ok'. I however did realize that the sofa table didn't go, but like the use of a dark wood. I don't think I would pull back the recliner very much or it would feel disconnected from the rest of the seating. Then I end up with what feels like dead space behind it Maybe that is a misperception so I'll have to try removing it. Maybe it could be replaced with one of the wine stave pieces....hmmm I've just told my son he might have to help tomorrow with moving some furniture around. The sectional and the tv cabinet both weigh a ton. The sectional is 2 pieces that divide at the corner - just not sure we want to give up the luxury of the corner seat to lounge in... I'd like to try it and see how it looks. We angled the tv cabinet in part to hide a big ugly wood storage hole in the overpowering fireplace. I'm intrigued with the thought of using a warm grey - could you give me the name of a color from one of the major paint companies so I could get a better picture of what you are thinking? Or a picture of something painted that color? Thanks again all. You have all been so helpful and each bring your own talents to discussions which is so appreciated by the style deprived people like myself. wig Here is a link that might be useful: repurposed wood furniture...See MoreReal Housewives of NY
Comments (6)I watch them all! Every season I go back and forth as to which is my favorite. My favorite housewife continues to be Caroline. I like that she doesn't take sides and doesn't put up with BS. I am tired of the family feud on NJ. Teresa has become a witch this season. Her put downs towards Joe, Melissa and Kathy are disgraceful. Not totally sure what Kathy ever did to Teresa. I feel sorry for the kids who just want to be close with their cousins. I can't believe I am saying this, but there are times I wish Danielle was back, so we could see something other than the Teresa and Melissa saga. I had mixed feelings about NY this season. I was hoping Jill would go back to the Jill I loved from Season 1. I miss her! The countless was down right nasty this season, I have nothing good to say about her. I think the Camel in Morocco kept throwing her off for a reason lol. I like Ramona, without her there would be no show. Alex finally got her voice this season, but used it at the wrong times. Simon is still creepy. Cindy added nothing to the show, I think she is boring and hope she does not return. Kelly continues to reside on Planet Kelly. Sonja was an emotional wreck this season. I hope she finds her panties. I am looking forward to HWBH. I really enjoy Lisa and her hubby....See MoreCamille on Beverly Hills housewives
Comments (20)Hi, I'm a long time member and lurker but I just wanted to jump in with a small thought that had occurred to me :) ...Just throwing this out there.... Doesn't any one find it odd that Kelsy doesn't want to be filmed? Isn't that how he makes a living? He's an actor, and even if your the private kind of actor who doesn't like his life being put out there, don't you think that he could act a little nicer or "act" while he's on camera? He's so distant looking and no affection from both him and Camille towards each other it's almost too painful to watch. And I see what everyone is saying too, that he's uncomfortable on camera and seems to try to avoid being on it as much as possible. So I think that he has been carrying on this affair before the RHWBH started filming and was uncomfortable about maybe someone finding out. Another thought that was tossed out there, by another person on another TV gossip forum, was that maybe Kelsey and Camille had an "open" relationship near the end, or that he knew about "Nick" ( Camille's boy toy) hanging around their Beverly Hills home so that Camille wouldn't notice or care about him/Kelsey being gone so he could then keep his own affair going in New York. She certainly seems wrapped up on this Nick guy and it doesn't look platonic at all... just saying :)...See MoreTara
