Painted Bedroom Furniture Dilema

I have a furniture dilema. Currently there is a long, low, traditional dresser(storage great), a neutral wood batchelor's chest and 2 small side chests that I use at bedside. The side chests are fun and a bright coral color. I love them.

The wood on the 2 other pieces isn't too pretty, but I don't want to paint the big pieces coral for fear it will be too too much. I don't like matching, but do I go bold? The batchelor's chest could stay natual, it's nice.

Room is pretty dark and the other colors are neutrals and sea sages.

just a shot without knowing the other colors, but a navy blue looks nice with coral, and maybe the others as well. Could change the knobs/handles to a metal, gold or silver depending on which works with the other colors or items. good luck!

I agree with Therese R. Navy is a great idea. What about a darker green? If you share pics of the room with the furniture, we might have other ideas for you.

What is the style? Before painting it maybe changing everything else ( paint, artwork, bedding, accessories, etc. ) might change your perception. i don’t think furniture style necessarily makes a room look like a “nursIng Home”, it’s usually everything else that does that. Ive been house hunting recently & I’m able to guess the age of the owners just by looking at everything else, not necessarily the furniture.

@acmI am in your ballpark. I have a lot of bedding and switch it out regularly. I pick my bedroom and bathroom paint colors based on what I like and what works with the rest of the house, then I select bedding that works with the bedroom paint color. I do agree with getting your sofa before deciding color in a living room paint color - don't replace my sofa often and color choices are more limited. Same with some other choices - kitchen cabinets, flooring, counter tops. Those stay for a long time and I will paint again before replacing those.

That may be a difficult color to work with. What color and type of floors do you have? What color are the walls? What are you planning for the bedding? If you painted them all blue, you could use white walls and bedding, with additional colors in your art and lamps.

Yeah, hard to guess. I mean you could stain them darker, or paint a neutral (white or gray or wall color). Agree that a few bright accents are better than a big set of the same color. There should be options.

I will put some pics up as soon as the closet cleaning is done. Navy is a bit dark for me, but I'm leaning toward a a darker green/teal shade. I may test with one wall. I appreciate all the suggestions.
