10 People in 2 Bedroom Apartment?
Comments (11)I think you have every right to call the landlord. The landlord has installed laundry units for a normally-occupied fourplex. And other services are predicated on the wear and tear that a normal occupancy level creates. (for example, noise--the landlord is expecting that people will have their conversations inside their homes and not come outside in order not to disturb sleeping family members or to get privacy from 8 other people) If you are really reluctant, you could contact the original tenants in that apartment and say, "These extra people are impacting the rest of us. They need to remove that impact. They need to never have a conversation out in the hallway; walk normally; keep their shoes inside bcs that's a fire hazard to have debris in the hall; worry about whether they are disturbing us. They need to take their laundry to the laundromat." Perhaps even warn them, in a friendly way, that if those people don't *want* to get kicked out they will need to do something to minimize the impact their arrival is having on all the rest of the people in the building. Because if they don't modify what they're doing, SOMEBODY is going to complain to the landlord. I won't necessarily be you--I can't imagine that folks in the other two units aren't disturbed and p.o.'d. If they get snotty about it when you talk to them, call. Frankly, since they're not even making any attempt now to be good neighbors, I think I might call anyway. (It may be a violation of CITY ORDINANCE to have that many people in a 2-bedroom apartment. Usually it's 2 people per bedroom, maybe 3, no more. They've got 5 people per bedroom)...See MoreIs this bedroom set too massive for my bedroom? (pics!)
Comments (51)Believe it or not, decent looking ceiling fans exist. On every design show I've ever seen they're the first things to be thrown out, but I have them in every bedroom. Mmm slight draft at night without the sound of floor fan... I pspent no fewer than 18 weeks looking (off and on) for a "pretty" one to go in my master. I have lived with a 4 poster bed. My experience - unless you have really high ceilings, and I'm talking like 10 ft, and a sizeable room, it will turn your space into... tiny. Once upon a time in a previous life I thought I had a big bedroom until I put a poster bed in there. I like your computer nook. I always wanted a space like that, which I could separate from the rest of the room with some romantic drapery tied back. I might force that idea on my formal dining room. :) beds/headboards coverin ga window do bother me. I don't like anything to cover a window (couch, table, or otherwise) -- but that's just me. And if it came down to a queen bed, or covering that window, sure - the window would get covered! We have single panels on our two bedroom windows, mostly because they're skinny and it looked silly to me to have two panels. If you need to cover the window, something that seems to help (at least when I've seen it done) is to pull the bed away from the wall a foot or so. Then you can go with two panels, and it looks kind of intentional instead of "didn't have space." Something else to keep in mind with blocking windows -- does the sun come directly in such that it would fade your bedding over time?...See MoreThis is 1 of 2 adjoining bedrooms. Comments (11)I think you could, but in our ceiling like that, we painted the 45 angles the same color as the vertical walls, and put the white only on the middle horizontal line of the room. It was shocking at how different the room felt. It was like someone finally got the combo just right. We had a light green walls, with only the white on the horizontal of the ceiling... The room felt so much larger! So you might consider that. In your case, if you want to do something different?? just put the blue on the horizontal line of the ceiling and put the white on the walls and 45 degree angle surfaces. Blue ceiling are soooo coool! And ....ne'er a spider will make a web there, really! It is crazy but true....See MoreNeed help decorating apartment bedroom, attached bathroom
Comments (67)I also vote no to the plastic liner. hard to clean and wasteful to just replace them all the time. Nylon curtains can be thrown in the wash and bleached (it's easier to wash them routinely though, before the bottom hem gets moldy). I use this kind of hook which makes that chore super easy. I used to have two curtains doubled up on regular hooks and that worked just fine, btw. double sided hooks or double rods are not really necessary unless you just like the way it looks....See MoreKitty H
