master bath size and his/her questions for mcm house
Comments (4)Many people cross post because the Kitchen Forum gets more traffic, and the essential planning concepts are very similar. We are very visual, so an actual scaled drawing with measurements (on graph paper or something) is really preferable to a schematic. My initial thought is that you will not be able to get full his/her in this amount of space and have it feel like a master bath. You may be able to do two toilet compartments and share the rest of the space. I am putting two full baths in 13+ x 6'9" so I know it can be done, but one of them is tiny and requires a wall hung toilet. (I had squeezed it down to 12 but figured out that moving things a bit over a foot to gain a foot in the bedroom was not worth it.) But this is an urban house and half the size of yours and I only started with 1.5 baths and will end up with 3, so I have a different program....See MoreLooking for ideas to rearrange master bath on home plan.
Comments (2)I would build a hallway of traditional closets on each side and push the bathroom to the back corner where the walk in closet is now. You may even be able to connect the bathroom to the Utility area with at least a hatch to put laundry through, or a full door. It might be convenient for laundry back and forth and also it might be nice to be able to walk directly to the full bath from outside. The current master bath is awfully big for a house of this footprint. I would also try to configure that the master bedroom does not open directly off the living room, and the powder room toilet is not visible from the kitchen sink. It's all a rectangle so you should be able to reconfigure fairly easily....See Morepaint suggestions for MCM master bath
Comments (5)Love your color direction! Isn't it great?! It's from Modern Intentions. They have some great wallpaper options that are super modern. Funny, the inspiration photo you just posted is from an interior design firm (Bright Design Lab) who is working on one of the projects we are currently quoting. They have amazing style! I was just drooling over their work yesterday....See MoreDD2's MCM Master Bath - Before & After
Comments (25)That looks so good. I was squinting and counting the 4" tiles in the original shower and came to the conclusion it was 28" x 28" -- same as the one in my ca. 1954 master bath. Mine also has a frosted glass door, which completes the entombment vibe. I can't wait to redo the bathroom, and hope it turns out half as well as your DD's....See MoreAnn Baker
