Need ideas for livingroom furniture placement- odd room shape
Comments (21)Nothing in picture is staying. All items are from other house and are just there until I decide what to do with room, what can be reused and what really must go. Ceiling in room is near 25feet. Lighting other than lamps will come later. Large art is a must. DH says that will come after the furniture. We have been getting ideas as there are also walls in the entry and stairway that need large art. I kinda like the idea of the curved sofa. Not sure if it facing the big wall will work. It may make room look too skinny. We actually did consider flipping the room at one point but decided to keep it the way it is. The room seems long and skinny but the width is actually decent. I think the real problem is that the windows in corner of the front of the room. It makes one want to either be in the area by the windows or be in the area where sofa is. We tried to overlap the sofa on the window and it looked like we were overlapping into that space. I agree that those sitting on sofa in the current layout feel on display as it is first thing you see when coming down the stairs or coming in the house. At one time I thought maybe doing a loveseat a few feet from arch with a sofa table behind it. DH was not too sure about that. I think he felt it chopped up the flow of the two rooms and when sitting on loveseat your back would be to the diningroom and anyone coming from there and the kitchen beyond. I am really into Feng Shui. Flow is important to me. I am just not sure how to achieve it in this room. Here are other views of room from a while ago- note other paint colors. View across room, looking towards entry from the sofa wall....See MoreMy odd shaped laundry room isn't working, need advice please!
Comments (10)can you reach your shut off valve to the water. Can you access the dryer vent for yearly maintenance? I like them stacked. You could but in a bank of floor to ceiling cabinets on the side, with planned access to the vent and water shut off. Have a tall pull out pantry on the side for your ironing board and brooms etc. floor to ceiling cabinets between the pullout and stacked set. Many of the cabinet shelves could be drawers instead of shelves, making it easy to access stuff. The upper areas could be for things you never need often, and reachable by a step ladder kept in the pantry pullout. example of pullout shelves: example of a 1/2 length pantry pullout (I think :) or this, no pullout pantry:...See MoreOdd shaped room- need your help!
Comments (5)Tv in the corner next to the fireplace. Sectional with One side facing the fireplace and the other facing the wall with the door, so that all seats see the tv. The bar is cute and should stand alone as another section of the room. So it is behind one side of the sectional with plenty of walking and bar tending space....See MoreRug size help - odd shaped living room
Comments (6)Get out the painter's tape and tape out a rug like this on the floor. It should be a minimum of 12" from the hearth and I like them to slip under the front 1/3 - 1/2 of the sofa. Things look more grounded if the rug extends past the ends of the sofa by a foot or more. Tape that out. Take a new photo and let's see what standard rug size is closest to your measurements....See Morehyjauregui
