Leathercraft vs Classic leather, Jetton or other leather sofas?
Comments (12)We purchased a Jetton sofa and loveseat a couple of years ago (after I read John's recommendation). Overall we have been pleased but the pieces required rework for (1)a small bulge in the fabric on the lovesear due to a poor trim job - done on site (2)two pieces of fabric used for the rear of the sofa which resulted in a pattern mismatch - factory finally replaced with a single swatch (3) a noticeable gather on one sofa back due to tension in the fabric - this required two trips to the factory to fix. It took 3 trips back to fix because both the dealer and the manufacturer did not fully inspect the pieces before sending them back. I had to finally talk to the owner(s) and to their credit they did address my problems. I like the construction techniques used. One curious fact is that the dealer did not advertise the brand in their store. Although the wood furniture had the brand name prominently displayed, for the Jetton line, you didn't find out who made them till you asked. (I had owned Jetton before)...See MoreChoosing color of new leather chair to match current leather sofa
Comments (1)Yes, I would go for the same color/leather if that is the style of armchair you want. But that could be hard to find. Lighter brown could work too; just need to see it. I would also suggest considering some other styles. Eames lounge chair might work well and takes less space:...See MoreStickley Quality?
Comments (7)The chair you are using for comparison is a very different construction as the leather is pulled tightly over structured frames and cushions. The sofa is indeed a different style with a slouchier cushions - the chair has welting/piping for a very square edge versus your sofa which has more of a rounded effect. Did you see the sofa in person and did it look differently. If you look at the Stickley website, sofas with that kind of cushion construction all have somewhat of a wrinkled look. Comments (11)I initially thought of camel/tan/brown for the sofas, but I'm afraid that it will be an overload of medium brown/orange with the doug fir cabinets and window trim and the huge live edge coffee table. Several of the leather samples I'm waiting for from Room and Board are in that brown color range, so I'm not ruling it out. I've always loved camel leather. I just don't want to increase the overall orangeness of the room. My cabinets feel bossy. We are definitely keeping the rug. It's huge and antique and we both love it. It's fairly neutral, with stone/taupe as the lightest color as noted by @eld6161. Maybe I should take another look at the leather color offerings in the taupe and beige range. I wouldn't be opposed to those colors as long as it was fairly natural looking (not artificial). We just don't want to make a mistake. We'll be living with whatever sofas we buy for a LONG time. I really appreciate and welcome all input. This stuff is hard!...See MoreHuntingflower
