Stickley Quality?
My Stickley sofa's finally came, and I am concerned about the quality. I asked the furniture dealer about the wavy/wrinkled appearance of the leather, and his rep told me it's a "casual look" and to "fluff the cushions". My nearly 20 year old Thomasville club chair does not look like this. Would appreciate advice. In advance, thank you for your time and consideration..

5 years agolast modified: 5 years agoWhat sofa did you buy, what leather did you specify and did you look at anything in the shop? I have a Stickley settle and the leather cushions are smooth and I'm actually slowly wearing them in and want them to wrinkle a bit so they get really comfortable. You can see how tight the original leather was and where I'm slowly beginning to wear it in. The chair you show is a very different style from the sofa which is more relaxed so it might not be a fair comparison.

Comments (3)I bought a Stickley fabric upholstered sofa about 5 years ago. It is a traditional English roll arm sofa not one of their Mission style ones. I am very pleased with the quality. It's extremely comfortable and looks almost new despite the best efforts of 3 little boys to destroy it. Comments (2)Bar01, Both are very good manufacturers, Stickley certainly has an excellent reputation however Hancock & Moore does specialize in leather upholstery whereas Stickley makes all types of upholstery along with casegood pieces. Comments (18)During the Great Counter Stool Search of 2007 (!), after weeks and weeks of late night Googling, I came across the stools we ended up getting. They were available in leather from one, single online vendor, on the opposite coast, so there was no opportunity to see or try them out in person. Luckily we were able check out floor models of the wooden version at an (unrelated) outlet store that had them on display. I figured, if they were even somewhat comfortable in wood, they would be even more so in padded leather--and they are. 5 years agoThe chair you are using for comparison is a very different construction as the leather is pulled tightly over structured frames and cushions.
The sofa is indeed a different style with a slouchier cushions - the chair has welting/piping for a very square edge versus your sofa which has more of a rounded effect.
Did you see the sofa in person and did it look differently. If you look at the Stickley website, sofas with that kind of cushion construction all have somewhat of a wrinkled look.
