Need help for living room of apartment decoration with black leather couch
Comments (11)Looking at the last photo I can tell that your tv isn't too huge. This is good on two counts: 1. TV over fireplace and then float sofa towards it. Or, if not an option : Shop furniture consignment stores because they are filled with great entertainment armoires now. That would hold not only tv, but all the components. I would set up tv on that wall as far as possible from fireplace, so that it doesn't compete. 2. Since tv isn't too large, you will be able to set closer. I would pull your sofa towards it 3 to 5 ft. This will allow you to have a traffic lane behind the sofa to the patio, rather than walking thru the middle. Better flow from the kitchen area. 3. I would put the love seat over to the other side of the room and have its back to the kitchen. Someone sitting in loveseat will be able to enjoy the fireplace and the view out the window. 4. The spot where the black love seat currently is will now be vacant: add an additional chair, not too large! and create reading nook. Or just fill corner with large plant. Or both. 5. Then I would work for color and warmth. Armoire in wood for tv, wooden coffee tables, perhaps one with baskets underneath to store magazines, a rug around 5 by 7 in warm colors (tones from slate surrounding your fireplace). Add light tone pillows to sofa and an off white bamboo throw. 6. Another great start for the room is a large piece of art for over the fireplace. Find something that really moves you. Then take the colors from it as your inspiration....See MoreNeed help picking living room seating to match a leather sectional!!!
Comments (10)Dear Anna: Thank you SO much for the added info. I am still working on figuring out "pictures" - so cannot do this right now. Since you have the lovely leather sofa - what about something with great texture - like a LARGE comfy chair - (not billowed) covered in something like an Indian Berber fabric (this can be scratchy so suggest a real upholstry fabric - softer - same look? You don't want your sofa to be the lone leather stranger in the room - you could do chairs which have leather to match the sofa on the back & fabric on the front - ???? I don't think I would attempt a white ottoman. If they [chairs] are structured - what about having them finished with upholstry tacks - these come in so many colors now, and textures - it can totally change a piece of furnitue? If you have an upholstered fabric ottoman - pull these two together wtih the matching tacks on both? And you could have an ottoman covered in an actual rug? These are great. High-end - yet casual. I don't think I would worry too much about the color of the walls, since the color you describe is pretty neutral - and will provide a nice background for almost anything you choose now. Paint IS cheap! Ethan Allen has some pretty great and very functional furniture for families in their collections, and interestingly - so does LazyBoy - not everything is a recliner - and both offer designers to assist with fabrics, etc. Have you considered this? Do you have children? If so, as you know, glass tables are out for coffee tables - you could do just end tables and/OR a great upholstered bench for the coffee table. There is a line of fabrics called SUNBRELLA - which are stain proof, wear proof. These can be found on the higher end outdoor furniture at Pottery Barn, and an on-line magazine called Frontgate.com - to get some ideas of the designs and colors. Some pretty amazing stuff. This might be better for you if there are children to consider with a coffee table in the mix. I like your idea of the creame or yellow colored yellow linen drapes. This sounds quite lovely. Do you have wooden floors, carpet? keep us posted - sounds great!...See MoreToo Much Leather!

Comments (4)Here is a picture of a wonderful room with just what you want. Two recliners (which don't look like recliners) in a saddle tone and this beautiful leather couch that actually looks like it has some saddle highlights. Just choose pieces with simple lines. I suggest you stay away from black. The browns and goldy tones are much warmer....See MoreRelated Professionals
