Help my succulent plant! Please!!
Comments (3)Hi AP, You can attempt to save your plant, but in my experience, when they look like yours does, it's just easier to get a new plant. Your plant is severely stretched out due to lack of exposure to light. It should be a neat rosette type plant which sits atop the soil (probably some kind of Echeveria). To try to save yours, the other posters are correct. Pick up a terra cotta pot (I'm guessing, for you, about a 2 or 3 inch pot) and a bag of perlite. Get your plant out of the glass and lay it and the dirt on some newspaper to let it dry out a bit. I would then mix 25% of the dirt with 75% perlite and pot up the plant. DO NOT water it. In fact, how do the roots look? Does it have roots? If they are white, then good. If black, brown or mushy...BAD. If it has no roots, then you can lightly mist the plant for a few weeks. If it does have roots, wait at least 5-7 days, perhaps even longer, to water. Get it into the brightest indirect light you can; supplement with a lamp light if you have to. Good luck! Nancy PS: Some important succulent "rules" 1. NEVER try to grow in a terrarium...the humidity levels get too high for most succulents 2. Unless you have been growing succulents for a while and know your plants, ALWAYS use a pot with drainage 3. NEVER "water in" a succulent. Always leave an adjustment period of at least 5 days before watering....See MorePlease Help! Single root has grown much thinner
Comments (13)Lati, I've tried all methods but cannot propagate the leaves. As mentioned, I've buried, too. Never worked. The stems root no problem (though the process is slower than molasses) but not from a leaf cutting. Rina, I am only referring to my P. graveolens leaves. The obtusifolia and clussifolia, I've always rooted by stem only and never even tried a leaf, now to think of it. But I have lots of those whereas everyone seems to want this plant when they come over, so I was attempting to make more...unsuccessfully....See MoreHelp me ID my succulents...Name the succulents! Comments (9)Hi Gina, no apologies needed:-) people her will chime in on the IDs, it's not a pain at all, and the list is a little less active because it's JUNE, yay, we are all out in the dirt:-) if you don't get a response soon, try this: repost your photos with numbers and just a short request for ID's. That makes it easier for folks to answer. usually you'll get several responses, with each person just IDing a couple plants, rather than one person doing it all. The numbers help make it easier for several folks to each focus on what they know best....See Morealoe plant growing weird, thinner leaves after 4 years
Comments (10)Thanks Helen. I checked it and found out another post by someone. After reading it, I think I'd be good to go in the Spring to behead her! Her, the plant. :P https://getbusygardening.com/aloe-vera-plant-care/ The section under Propagating Aloe Vera Plants says, "If your aloe vera plant has grown huge and has a long stem at the bottom (and you’re feeling brave), you could try propagating the whole thing from one large stem cutting (this is how I ended up with two humongous aloe vera plants!)." Nik, the big one was repotted to a larger pot about a year and a half ago. I had kept half of the dirt in and added new dirt. I didn't want to startle it, but maybe I'm completely wrong. Maybe I'll give it 100% new dirt soon, but then again it's winter here. We actually just had our first snowfall today, and a lot of snow. Wasn't sticking though! I wish the leaves got fat! I give it a little bit of this for food and hasn't died yet! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01JIRKYJ2/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Great information to help me open my eyes more! I do have two LED grow lights w/ full spectrum.... Thoughts?...See MoreMeyermike(Zone 6a Ma.)
