Glad the waiting is over. Wishing you WELL! Don't get too ambitious about ditching pain meds. You are probably still 'coasting' a little on what they gave you during surgery. Keep ahead of the pain. You're not going to become an addict overnight! Also, ditto Sleeperblues' advice about keeping ahead of constipation.

So interesting about the lift-recliner and the ice thingy!

Sounds like you're during well. Keep it up. I didn't know about your surgery but it seems it went well.

Glad to hear you are doing so well. When you feel up to it, would greatly appreciate info in the ice machine you bought. We were thinking you could rent one from the med supply place. Maybe not??

Hi all. I sure have been doing a lot of dozing off and on. I've had to stop taking the Norco; narcotics have a bad effect on me.....difficulty breathing, hallucinations, and other side effects. So, I'm in more pain now, but starting to feel better without the very uncomfortable problems.

The ice machine we chose was Ossur Cold Rush. It's terrific, so far. I've been keeping the pad on me all day recirculating icy water most of the time. We took it off overnight because it's cumbersome and has to be unhooked to move around the house. I cannot manage all of that with one hand....it's a two person machine for me. Would be different if the problem was a knee, for example.

I have no idea if such a machine is rentable or not. I do know that the lift chairs are. That thing has been a life saver and I'm so glad we purchased this for my husband.

Oh I'm so glad to hear how well you're managing and that you're feeling pretty good. Just don't rush doing things and take help when it's offered. Good luck with the physio.

Great that your DH is able to help you. It sounds like you've got the right equipment. Glad you're aware enough to get off a drug that bothers you. Hallucinations sounds very scary! I hope the Tylenol works for pain control. Continued prayers said for a complete and speedy recovery

No problem about me overdoing.....I've been pretty uncomfortable without the heavy duty drug. I will ask my doctor about it when I see him today. The dressings come off this morning.

A speedy, uneventful recovery to you! My sister has had 6 joint replacements, and they decided at some point that owning the ice machine would be more cost effective than renting one.

Sheilajoyce, wow, I can't imagine so many joint replacements. She must feel like the bionic woman. ;)

My chemo team tried me on Norco and two types of morphine. What works for me is Tylenol-4 every four hours.
