Paint Design Dilemma Exterior

need help with exterior paint colors

We are building this home in North Texas. This is the model and we feel it’s a bit too trendy with the current modern farmhouse aesthetic. Trying to create a more timeless look but worried the design will allow it. To soften the look thinking
1. Incorporating with the vertical board and batten , horizontal lap siding or even shakes on front. James Hardie unpainted is what is used.
2. What about these color combos instead- could this style handle it ?
Body: SWAlabaster White
Trim: SW pure white
Roof: Dark Grey
Metal : Grey
Window Inserts : White
Door: Navy Blue or Grey

Or could it look better
Body: SW Repose Grey
Trim: Pure White
Roof: Dark Grey
Metal: Grey
Window Inserts White
Door: Black

Don’t want to be too trendy but more classic and timeless. Landscape planned boxwoods, pale pink knockout roses, sea grass . Classic, relaxed, inviting and cozy is the look trying to achieve. Wdyt? Thanks!

If you want it to be less trendy I suggest eliminating the stone and the corbels.

I really like your house the way it is. If you are going to keep the stone apron, I think mixing clapboard with board and batten will diminish the overall look.

Either of your color schemes sounds good.

CUTE home!! I’d probably remove the shutters. Except the ones on the porch. And I’d leave the brick for now. I agree to leave the railing. Your home is super craftsman, traditional, quaint, well kept, and calming. I would not add modern features. I’d probably paint the house the color of the trim now. And maybe paint the shutters a pale light blue. If you want something more basic just repaint em black. Maybe a less ornate glass inside the door. You can also wrap the porch columns in wood. And maybe add wood boxes. Both of which are totally unnecessary. Your house really does not need a lot. It’s very nice as is!!!

it be helpful if you gave us a list of colors they do approve, rather than us spending time suggesting colors that are off limits. (can't belive that baby poo brown next door is approved but a creamy white is not??? ) ditto garage doors. can those be painted? what colors? agree to the big mushroom cloud bush being trimmed or removed. it covers half your front

The house looks very nice, just like it is, I would not go darker. Unless, it really needs paint, I would only do touch ups if needed. I would add some inviting looking furniture to that front porch. It looks a bit lonely and not an inviting place to sit. Its a beautiful porch, play that up, for your buyers. Make it something they will remember, with rugs and plants, and comfortable colorful furniture.

I did some rendering, but rough, too much to do.But you can get some idea.

I think black window frames make great look, better than white.

Thank you. We are eliminating the stone and the corbels too. Can’t decide if we will think black windows too trendy ? White without any shutters seems blah....

I think black windows are too trendy, but so is the modern farmhouse look. If you are looking for classic and timeless, I would shy away from the black/white modern farmhouse look....these will be time stamped for sure IMO. Also consider your surroundings. We live in a quiet area on the outskirts of suburbia, surrounded by trees, lakes, ponds and lots of wetland. The new homes in my neighborhood with earthier exterior color schemes (warm grays, greens, beiges, brown, etc) fit in very well with the surroundings, and the overall vibe is relaxed, ”homey” and welcoming. These will age well in place. We also have several white/black and/or all white modern farmhouse looking homes in the neighborhood, and they stick out like a sore thumb. The “look” of the home itself appeals to me (although I admit I am getting tired of seeing so many), but it feels forced and inappropriate for the lot and surroundings, and the overall feel of the neighborhood. I can’t explain it well, but they just feel harsh to me.

I have always loved the cheery and clean look of white windows; I find them very warm and welcoming. On the wrong house, black windows can be dark and dreary....almost haunted house vibe (particularly with darker earth tone exterior colors).

I don’t like all white, though (again, trendy).....I would do the repose gray siding (your second color scheme), or a slightly darker gray like mindful or dorian gray to offer more contrast. I think a grayish sage green or a blue would work well, too.

If you do go with black windows, I would heavily consider black on the outside and white on the inside.
