I think your house would look better without the shutters. The windows are nice and tall and they would look more contemporary alone.

I like SW Pure White. I think you can use the gray or Perle Noir for trim

Is the first pic the back of the house? IMO this is a confused home since the back is very contemporary and the front traditional. What do you want to have for a style? IMO all windows should match on a house . Maybe just give us a bit more info as to the very different style pics.

CUTE home!! I’d probably remove the shutters. Except the ones on the porch.
And I’d leave the brick for now.
I agree to leave the railing. Your home is super craftsman, traditional, quaint, well kept, and calming. I would not add modern features.
I’d probably paint the house the color of the trim now.
And maybe paint the shutters a pale light blue.
If you want something more basic just repaint em black.
Maybe a less ornate glass inside the door.
You can also wrap the porch columns in wood. And maybe add wood boxes. Both of which are totally unnecessary. Your house really does not need a lot. It’s very nice as is!!!

If you get new shutters, get them equal the one half the window width and the length of the window not the window frame. I would not paint the brick. It will go well with the white you chose.

Here's some inspiration for you. These are nice railings if you want a change that is more classic like your house. Agree with removing shutters, and I would open that gable entry. The wide board across it make is too heavy looking for the rest of the architecture. If it were my home, I would remove that entirely Consider painting the beadboard ceiling the color of this house or a traditional haint blue.

The picture of the railing is not on out house currently, just anexample of an option were we to change the railing. the bottom pic. is our home. We have lived gere for 25 years and just looking to love it again.

Decoenthusiast, be open the gable entry do you mean remove it completely or remove the 3 accent pieces and the brace at the bottom of those…the wide board?

I should also add that the house faces due east and as such gets a LOT of sun …so thinking of the light reflecting value of the paint.

I like the shutters but I would add shutters to the other 2 2nd floor windows. Am not feeling the gabled entry either - seems like it interrupts the nice linear feel of the house.

I would go with off-white body.

Yes, I meant remove all of those. The cross piece is too massive and the accent pieces to petite. But I would be more inclined to remove the gable portico and go for the shed style porch roof all across. That portico looks like a growth or appendage that wasn't there originally.
