May I please see your closet? (clothing)
Comments (39)Sheesharee, my DH and I are just getting ready to finish the built-in storage in our two closets, which are about the same dimensions as yours. We are doing L-shaped storage, that is, along two walls, so there's enough room to comfortably stand/dress in there. We're doing built-in stacks of shoe/sweater shelves, with double hanging bars on one wall and singles on the other. The empty wall will have hooks for robes, belts, etc. Each closet will also have a rolling laundry hamper we can easily roll down the hall to the washer/dryer area. I carefully planned it all out depending on the measurements of what we each need to store. It will probably end up costing us about $250 in materials by the time we're done. I'll try to post some photos once the main component are installed, and then later (hopefully by next weekend!) when it's all painted and has clothes in it :) We have been living out of piles and remote closets and basement boxes for over a year now since we had to gut this part of the house due to a mold problem and bathroom renovation. It's been so frustrating not knowing where stuff is. I am sooooooooooo looking forward to having nice, organized closets!...See MoreJuniper leaves turning yellow and brown
Comments (3)I'm pretty sure your plants are suffering from 1 of the 3 fungal infections that cause tip/twig blight. Phomopsis, Kabatina or Scllerophoma pythiophila are the likely suspects on the list of possible pathogens. Read up on it and see what you think - it's a very common affliction of evergreens. Cleary 3336 fungicide is very often suggested as remedial or a prophylactic for juniper tip/twig blights. Regular prophylactic treatments beat trying to fix an existing problem any day. I treat all my evergreens every 3-3 weeks, starting as soon as I put them on the benches after their winter rest. DO check very carefully for spider mites and get your watering under control. There is no need to water the junipers until you can no longer detect moisture with your finger. Use a 5/16" wooden dowel rod sharpened in a pencil sharpener as a 'tell'. If, after being stuck deep in the pot, the dowel rod comes out dry and clean, it's time to water. Al...See MoreHELP!!! I turned white towels grey, and then yellow!! :-O
Comments (26)@ Rococo....Yellow is gone. I did three washes ranging between 160-200F. Combo and variance of Tide boost, British Ariel powder tablet and Grab Green. I think with continued hot washes and strong(ish) powder detergent with oxi bleach and a bleach activator...they might be ok! :)...See MoreI’m turning the spare bedroom into a walk-in closet!
Comments (26)Warning - two year old post! @adv1984 - your closet renovation looks amazing - hard to believe it was DIY. You must be an experienced DIYer! My master closet appears to be similar to yours. It’s a little over 7.5’ wide (as currently finished + 5-6‘ of eave space behind current walls) x 18’ deep. While I wouldn’t do the work myself, I’m interested in hearing some details - if you wouldn’t mind sharing. First, what are the dimensions of your closet? Did you build everything or use some sort of system? I know that some people have used somehing like IKEA Pax and customized it (and made it look buil-in). My guess is that you made custom pieces to fit into the space. Is the space along the top separately finished for each set of doors - or - did you frame out one continuous space + add sets of doors to access space? Also, I am very interested in how you finished the space behind your built-ins. It appears that you have eave space that runs along both sides of the closet based upon the access doors behind your hanging bars on each wall ( shown in the second and third photos). Does the eave space run along the entire length of your closet walls? I’m trying to get a feel for how many access doors I would need along 18’ wall (if I want to use the entire 18’ of space under the eaves on each side). How long/deep is the space that can be accessed by each door? Wish you lived near me so I could hire you! Thanks!...See MoreCavimum
