Comments (11)That's really nice. :) I have always wanted a pond but I don't know where to start and really where I would put it, there is no outlet nearby. So DH and I have just built a dry pond and river bed in the back yard where a spring comes up out of the ground when we get enough rain. This area is at least damp most times and during a really good downpour, I actually have a flowing creek! We're working on widening the stream right now because we didnt make it wide enough to begin with. We also need to add more stone because it's not deep enough and we used too small of pebbles so I have had troubles with it. I did more research and just moved new plants over on the wet side that can handle the wet. It's a constant work in progress and it's not even a real pond. I don't know what I would do if it was! LOL Enjoy all that hard work!...See MoreSummer Craft Projects
Comments (15)Like Tami, I am always knitting (and crocheting). I am teaching a friend to crochet and helping her advance her knitting skills. We meet once a week for an evening and she "pays" me by cooking me an authentic Indian meal and sends me home with leftovers for lunch the next day. I also have a monstrous quilt at the sewing machine now that I am doing the final quilting on. My grandson is now almost 16 years old and nearly 6 feet 2 inches tall. I want him to be able to really wrap up in it, so it is 6 feet wide and 7 feet 4 inches long. I don't have a long-arm machine, so it is quite a struggle maneuvering that thing through the throat of my machine. But I love him and am happy to do it. I expect it to take another month, then I have to start another for his little brother. No idea if he'll be as tall as his big brother, so I will make his quilt the same size. And I've purchased several patterns and more fabric and hope to get a few summer dresses made for my 7 month-old granddaughter. I haven't made little girl dresses in a very long time and I'm really excited to try my hand at it again. Oh, and my order of ground walnut shells just came yesterday. I'm going to make pincushions that become part of the lids on tiny canning jars. Saw it on Pinterest and decided I had to give it a try....See More'Tis the season to be crafting. (Got any projects going?)
Comments (33)Hello Alisande, the way I read it, Dorset buttons come from Dorset England, they were made for clothing around the 1600's to the middle 1800's. They are the precursor to machine made buttons, I'm sure you could use them today on modern clothes if you wanted to :) I'm not sure what I'll do with these yet, maybe include them in some weaving or knitting somehow. I've got an idea to make a larger one for a shawl pin. I've knitted several shawls and this time of year need to keep them closed lol. I got the idea from a circle weaving group I belong to on Facebook and once I tried it I found out how incredibly easy they are to do (and addictive I made another one after I posted these lol). I love your rug hooking it's going to be beautiful!...See MoreCan you resist this arts & crafts project?
Comments (11)Those are really cute. I've used the "heads" of people on cards I've made for them.....one was a window card and the person was looking out the window. Another was for a friend who has a camper. I had her and her husband's heads looking out the window and door. I've used their heads as the center of a flower....See More- 6 years ago
