36' or 48' range? AG or duel fuel?
Comments (1)We are redoing our kitchen and had the exact same issue. We ended up doing a 36" AG range and seperate electric convection oven. In the end my wife liked having more space in the 2 ovens than the 48" (especially for holidays and large gatherings) and we felt 6 burners on the 36" were fine. We also went with AG since it was considerably less cost wise and after researching on Consumer Reports their opinion was AG cooked even better than DF....See More36' Range or 48' Range - Counter Depth and Backplate Issue
Comments (2)Consider a range with "island trim" as long as it's rated to be installed against a fireproof backdrop. You many need to extend the tile/stone/sheet metal downward to meet install requirements (one range I am familiar with requires 6" below the counter; check the install instructions for your specific make and model)....See MoreBrand/model advice a 36" or 48" Professional Range
Comments (3)Thermador is an excellent unit with sealed burners. Good quality and reasonable pricing for what it is. Go with an all gas unit (dual fuel is more money, plus less reliable). Bluestar gets rave reviews and having used them personally they cook well. I don't love the company per se but the product is solid and very simple so reliability should be ok. They have open burners with a little more power....See More36", 42" or 48" Range hood for 36" range with no uppers
Comments (6)I won't have uppers, either, and was going for a 42" over my 30" cooktop. I wanted adequate capture if I changed out to a 36" cooktop at some point in the future and for high heat cooking. I ended up with 48" because of a really good deal. The larger capture area will be great to have. With shelves, I'd go for the larger hood to reduce the amount of film that's going to build up on them being so close to the range. I imagine that they'll still need wiped down pretty often....See MoreZalco/bring back Sophie!
