(Pics)Living/Dining Room Color, Drapes and Accessory Help Needed
Comments (9)Thanks for the kind words, our place is still in progress but we love it so far. I love having the mudroom bench! The paint color used in all the rooms is SW #7533 Khaki Shade. The laundry room is SW #7532 Urban Putty one shade lighter than the khaki shade. Your home has great potential with just some paint and furniture arranging. I do not think drapes to the ceiling would work, that would draw your eye up to the height of the room. I like what you have on the dining window but you could also use 2 simple roman shades on the dining window to add some texture and color. If you use a more neutral colored curtain panel on the sliding door with your current rod that would look nice. Try getting panels that blend with the paint color you choose. I love your fireplace and armoire is it possible to use the armoire for the tv instead of the table its on? I also have a westie she seems to get in my photos also :) If you put a large area rug down and pull the furniture away from the wall and arrange it around the fireplace that will ground the space. Try putting the couch across from the fireplace and a chair on each side and the Ottoman as a coffee table with a tray and books on it. Add a nice neutral area rug. Put one of the chairs where the tv is and the other facing the sliding door. I think the large wall hanging might look nice in the dining area. Hope you don't mind the suggestions. good luck with the house....See MoreLiving room Rug & Drapes struggle
Comments (16)The colors in your picture are very hard to discern on line, so the actual color palette would have to be adjusted to match your particular colors and room conditions, but I would start with a rug...perhaps this one. ...then pull the colors from the rug to paint the room. Swap the drapes out with something in the color scheme but more in keeping with the furniture...a valance and side panels in a heavy textured fabric...maybe a velvet or a dupioni silk. Then go for art, perhaps something in the hudson river school that reinforces the color theme. I would add a separate but coordinating carpet under the dining room table....See MoreI’m not sure what kind of rug I need for my living room
Comments (11)Saxa I don’t think those water fountains goes with our rustic/farm theme. I think they are to contemporary for my taste. Also my three cats would have a field day with them. They love playing in water. Thank you for your suggestion! Much appreciated Daisy and Val as stated in my OP we are going to lower the tv. It is too high as it is. The plan is to remove the mantle and lower it about 5” and then lower the tv. Everyone in our house is in agreement that putting it on the side of the fireplace would be ackward for anyone sitting on the couch in front of the windows. And yes the cable will be put inside the fireplace. We specifically added a wall plug behind the stone. We just haven’t gotten to it yet. I’m still looking for that perfect rug!...See MoreIdeas for Nightstand for Bed + Rug + Great Color to make room POP !
Comments (0)Hello all. I received this brand new platform bed for free, and I'm not crazy about it (HATE the Silver trim, my hand to God, it's actually silver glitter,) Also, it's a little too large for the guest room I'm going to use it in and I still need to add TWO new nightstands (as I promised I would to the person who gave it to me for when they come to stay, they both want their own nightstand.) I'm thinking of painting the trim on the bed, Pewter, in a Hammered finish. The nightstands can be no longer than 19 WIDE and needs at least 1 drawer, 2 or more would be preferable. My Nightstand Questions: 1) What style would match this bed? 2) Should I paint the new nightstands to match the Pewter trim? 3) Should I paint the Nightstands something totally different? 4) If I choose a different material, such as Metal... would have it match the bed and could I find one with drawers? Also, I'd like to paint the wall behind the bed it a great NEW color to make the room POP! I have so many rooms in my house that have white/beige or taupe walls, I'd like this room to "stand out" a bit. I 1) I'm thinking Green, Blue or maybe even Red? 2) What Greens, Blues or Red is trendy there days? 3) No Oranges, Yellows, Lime Green, Pink, Brown, etc. please.) 4) My concern is, is this bed set too dark for a Green, Blue or Red wall? After all this, I still need a RUG to break up the wood bed from the new wood floors we just put in this room. So Rug ideas to match: Bed Nightstands Accent Wall Paint... That's "all"... lol Thanks everyone!...See MoreBeth H. :
