(Pics)Living/Dining Room Color, Drapes and Accessory Help Needed

Hi everyone! It's been a while since I've been on. With your help, I remodeled a kitchen and it turned out amazing! Now we are in a new home and I've grown tired of same old, same old. So I'm planning on painting, new drapes and accessories. I don't know how to explain what I'm going for but if you will go to the website of www.riverdunes.com, this is where we spend our weekends since we have gotten a sailboat. I'm limited because I don't have the beautiful architecture but I'm willing to do the best with what I have and be happy! :)

I want to paint our living/dining room with silver or gray. I'm thinking of silver silk drapes on each side of the sliding doors. I'd like to accessorize with nautical decor like boat oars, sailboat prints, etc. I'm thinking that the wall beside the table, I'm going to have done in full wall wainscoating but only that one wall.

I've primed that room but as you can see in one picture, it is still the original gold color.

My questions are 1.) On the wall with the sliding door - can I take the drapes up the ceiling? 2.) What do you think if I put a huge mirror over the door to give the illusion that it is a window? Or does someone have a better idea? 3.) Does anyone have ideas for accessories besides the ones I've mentioned? I'm open to anything at this point. 4.) Does anyone recommend any grey colors that are light and silver-like? They are all starting to look alike to me.

I have seen the latest edition of Traditional Home with the Before and Afters with Weekend Homes and it's just gorgeous but hard to apply to my home.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Dee

Also, I've included a pic of the drapes in my bedroom with the rod at the top BUT there's a big difference in the living room since the ceilings are so high...
