Living room Rug & Drapes struggle
Comments (16)The colors in your picture are very hard to discern on line, so the actual color palette would have to be adjusted to match your particular colors and room conditions, but I would start with a rug...perhaps this one. ...then pull the colors from the rug to paint the room. Swap the drapes out with something in the color scheme but more in keeping with the furniture...a valance and side panels in a heavy textured fabric...maybe a velvet or a dupioni silk. Then go for art, perhaps something in the hudson river school that reinforces the color theme. I would add a separate but coordinating carpet under the dining room table....See MoreHelp! Comments (15)Anele, you know your paint companies palettes - the ming red was a Sherwin Williams color. I'm not sure it's still an active color, but they still have it in their formulary because I buy small cans for touchup and according to my record book, it's definitely called "Ming Red." Honestly, if it wasn't for wanting to paint the dining room the paprika I found, I'd keep the red in the living room. I'm just ready for changes. When I finally got rid of my eucalyptus-y/sage green in my family room and went to expresso it was kind of galvanizing. The gold is really a bit richer than the washed out picture and it still makes me happy, but I'm in the mood for a change. The current color is just a few shades lighter than the curry (same basic color family) you posted above - and it does make wonderful changes with the light levels throughout the day and evening. It took a lot of painted 4x4' squares I moved around the room to find it, lol. I like the idea of green, but I'm just not sure since I got rid of green in my family room. Then again, shades of green, reds, and golds have always been my comfort zone - although I was blues, browns, white and pops of red before I married. I don't really care that much about the living room rug - I can easily put it somewhere else in the house, probably my office - but I'm stuck with the chairs until my daughter moves out and takes them, she likes the retro Alhambra print, although I've toyed with placing them at the head of the table in the dining room and getting a couple of new chairs eventually for the living room....See MoreWindow treatment? Rug? How can I liven up my living room?
Comments (10)You need some beautiful drapes, rug, and some accent colors. I have 2 light beige sofas in my living room and the carpet is about the same color as the sofas (already there--not my choice). I painted the walls a silvery gray and my accent colors are white, black and burgundy. Even though I also have carpet, I purchased a gorgeous rug that is placed between the 2 sofas for color. I will eventually be making burgundy drapes and make pillow covers out of burgundy, cream, and black Japanese fabrics. Here is what my rug looks like:...See MoreLiving room redecorating. need help making my room look cozy and inter
Comments (8)Center the sofa on the far wall (where the TV currently is) and put the end tables on each side. Get matching table lamps (26"-30" tall) for the end tables. You can put a larger piece of art over the sofa. This will address the immediate focal point as you enter this room. Keep the loveseat where it currently is, centered on the wall between the windows (if there's enough room when you move the sofa). Place the coffee table in front of it. If you need to scooch it down a bit that's fine, but I generally like to try centering off of architectural features first. You're looking at an arrangement something like this: You can then purchase a TV cabinet/console that will go on the wall opposite the loveseat. There might then be enough room to get a pretty side chair to angle in to the seating area. With this arrangement, you address conversation needs and also TV viewing. I wouldn't do an accent wall. Just keep all of your paint light and neutral. The carpet you have is pretty ... if you like it keep it. It looks as if you've already pulled some colors from it for your throw pillows. I would remove your valances, you don't need them with your fabric shades. Pretty furniture and a nice start to your room!...See MoreBeth H. :
