The cabinets show a distinct greenish-yellow tinge on my monitor - is that true in real life? They look like a kind of bright chartreuse-ish cream color. If so, a soapstone with a greenish undertone might work, or you could look at granites with some green. Would be helpful to see some real life photos of the cab color and style, though.

I think that soapstone would look fantastic with your cabinets -- why are you worried about the combination? Have you taken one of your cabinet doors and brought it to the stone yard to hold it up to the slabs you are interested in? You could also consider a honed black granite, which won't show every fingerprint like a polished black granite will.

I can't see a reason not to go with soapstone. I love the contrast of the dark color and the highlight o the slight white veining. A great combo for your cabinets, I think.

Looks like soapstone would be a great choice. To get the "wet" look you will have to oil the soapstone & do this over & over.

biondanonima, The color is actually cream. DH is giving me push back on opening the crates until we are ready for install. Demolition starts in March. I am pushing hard to open one crate as it would make my life so much easier. I am going to use your comments to motivate him. LOL

kariyava, I actually ordered samples from Wellborn to take to the stone yard. The problem is it is a huge warehouse and all the slabs are inside under florescent lights so it is tough to get a good idea.

Rita, Whew! I'm so overwhelmed I keep second guessing myself. I was hoping soapstone would work. I have sentimental attachment to soapstone.

I will try to get DH to open a crate so I can get a good picture to share. It's been 10 years so even I have forgotten some of the details. LOL
