Design Dilemma hallway Paint

Help! painting a hallway

I have a long ranch home with a long hallway. It has crown molding and a chair rail and has limited lighting. I’m looking for a Benjamin Moore Color(s) that coordinate with the rooms that can be viewed from the entrance and hall. The other callers are: stone house ( living room), Bennington Grey ( family room), palm desert sand ( guest bathroom). Other rooms in the house are grant beige ( kitchen) and Saybrook Sage ( dining room) I don’t like colors that caste yellow or pink. It can be Please advise,... I’m going crazy,

With all the tan colors I think a warm white would be refreshing in your hallway.

My last house was a center foyer plan as this new one is too for that matter. In the last house I had yellow buttercreme walls in the LR, & the DR was a toile blue & white paper with yellow accents and the foyer I had a small matchstick stripe with blue, yellow & white. It all coordinated well. In my new house, I stayed on the same paint strip but moved up & down. Foyer & Lr are Ivorie & DR is restrained gold. It can work.....just takes some thought on how to coordinate & overlap the colors from room to room. Good luck with your painting! Bonnie

Hi everyone, Getting ready to paint my living areas. I was just wondering if any of you have had your paint color reduced by half for the hallways? My hallways is a little on the dark side, not very long, and I'm afraid that my wall color will be just a tad too dark. Is it real solid wood or manufactured/pressboard? I painted our 'rumpus room' paneling and no regrets. It's held up really well with 2 pretty active kids. I repainted it last year, probably after 10 years of use? I don't recall that I used primer; I don't believe I washed the walls or did any other prep even. Pretty sure that I just got white paint and started doing impusively. I would think if you used some kind of high-adhesion primer you would be even better off. This second time I painted it, I did caulk the seams (I like paintable clear caulk better than 'painters caulk' that seems to get dingy and yellow).

Your issue is not paint colors. It’s that stained glass light fixture! It’s going to cast a yellow and orange on everything. It looks like a relic from the 90’s. Before you do anything with paint, change out that light fixture.

The color you have doesnt go well with your oak colored flooring. Try the silver sage, listed above. Also, the light fixture is not the best for your entry.. If you can, try and buy another one, and make sure it has enough sockets for light bulbs, so you get enough light in there. It looks like your door hardware is brass, so look for a light fixture with some brass on it, so it all blends together.
