I would not describe Sherwood Green as a blue green, but as more of a yellow green. And it is a soft color, for want of a better description. It goes really well with the yellow undertones in the Windham Cream. I have it on my "to do" list" to take pics tomorrow. If I took them now, the artificial light would throw off the color.

If what you like is a one-wall kitchen with an island, that is possible. You'd have a super long island that is 3' deep and way roomier walkways (4') around the island. If you did that, I'd just make the nook a straight windowseat. Like this: The island has legs on one end for seating like this: The bay window provides extra space needed to walk comfortably behind the island seating. I'd add another doorway into the dining room, since that is now your primary eating area. You want non-cooking traffic to be able to get back and forth without entering your kitchen work zones. And I think you'll generally like the greater visibility and circular flow between rooms. If you orient the island drawer stack closest to the dining room so it opens toward the dining room, you'll be able to unload the dishwasher directly into that. And glasses can go in the pantry, which is just a step or two further. The pantry is floor-to-ceiling cabinets and around 12" deep. That's great pantry storage - stores a ton, and it's easy to see everything with nothing lost in the back. Note that the downsides are: - You lost a hallway closet and deepened the other hallway closet in order to elongate the one-wall part of the kitchen. You wouldn't have to do this if you lose the wall ovens, but I assume you don't want that. - It's going to be complicated to vent the range hood. - You'll need to get a fridge with one door and drawer freezer so they don't bang the open dishwasher. Or make peace with not opening the fridge and dishwasher at the same time.

I am in the process of removing 1990's ceramic tile from my terrazzo floors (1959 house in Orlando FL) with a hammer-drill. I have a goal each week to tear up 15 sq feet of the tile (and that much fits in my trash can outside). I prefer the not so shiny terrazzo to the ceramic tile. It is a lot of work especially getting up the thinset (I spray water on it to keep the dust down) and to not damage it..Once it is all up and I have some other projects done, I am getting the terrazzo refurbished and it will glow!. I have the same style house and love it. Your tile job is definitely DIY. No pro would have that mess by the kitchen and dining room. I think the potential there is huge. I think the dining room would feel less unfriendly if one could see out those french doors. I'd center the table under the skylight and hang a light inside the skylight. You (a pro) can put a light in a skylight, you just need to affix a board that goes from side to side and the wiring would get run to it in the same fashion it goes to your fan. Ditch the fan. you could hide the wires to the light by making a false ceiling about an inch lower than the present ceiling. You could go with a tongue in groove real wood stained something medium colored. I did that on one of my ceilings. These houses are built with those tongue in groove boards under your layer of roofing. I think those built-in shelving do-dads are really awkward and would get rid of them. They were an add on when they did the 1990's tile. So awkward how the baseboard is that tall baseboard and that era of houses had 4 inch ranch style. Sticks out like a sore thumb wrapped around those wall units. If you can get the glass clear in those doors, remove the shelving, take up the floors, put a light in the skylight and put some plants in there it will look like a different place.

When you are young and have a small space and not forever furniture is a wonderful time to have fun with your decor. If I were you I would paint the table top navy to go with the chair seats, keeping the nicer wood on the table base and chairs. Now comes the fun part - dressing the room and table. Pick a table runner or place mats or dishes that will work as your inspiration for the room. You can go bright and bold, or pastel or neutrals or a mix. With navy blue and the light wood there are 100 color schemes you could choose. You could paint the walls the light teal blue gray and use creamy white dishes with these placemats. You could do red placemats and light blue walls with these dishes. You could do a light coral/peach wall color with white dishes and this table runner Or light gray blue walls with this table runner Linen white walls and gray dishes with this runner . . .
