Question: Coneflowers (Echinacea) truly perennials??
Comments (12)I'm one of the ones with troubles with the newer varieties. "Mango Meadowbrite" only lasted 2 years, yet my bosses only lasted 1. "Harvest Moon" doesn't look like it'll make it a third year, and "Sunset" doesn't either; both are in full sun and puny. To make matters worse, I have one of the skunked "Sunset"; it's not blooming properly/petals don't open/remains curled. I've tried "Double Decker" twice and neither returned the following year. "Coconut Lime" also died off after purchasing when transplanted, and it wasn't disturbed at all in the process. My "Magnus", "White Swan" and other unknown purples (also in full sun) are much more reliable in my garden, and return faithfully as well as reseed......See MoreWANTED: echinacea purpurea & rudbeckia

Comments (1)Not sure. I had bearded purple coneflowers this year. I think I planted them from seed 2 years ago and they just came up! The petals are now shrivlled. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the JBs, they have been eating my passion flower in addition to my roses....See Morehello, Is echinacea purpurea Perennial in my zone?
Comments (7)Don't fixate on your zone. Tell us about the living soil conditions in your area and how you are thinking of planting. In soil, pot etc. Your info state you are in Pakistan. Most of the posters here know nothing about Pakistan other than what we see on tv. From a fellow worker I know it has many contrasts as far as areas to grow in. Since I live at the border of Kansas and Missouri I am aware of what misinformation people have of different areas. Some have asked how close we are to the desert, indians, fur trappers etc. Please give more information on growing conditions. I temperature wise the purpurea might live but there are other echinacea's that might do better as they need more or less moisture....See MoreFlorida_Joe's_Z10a
