Soap dispenser or no soap dispenser?
Comments (36)Can anyone recommend a dispenser with a LONG spout? The one we have now (Price Pfister) has an utterly useless 2" spout. I have found a 3 7/8" spout, also 3 1/2", but am wondering if there are any that are longer. The new sink is 10" deep. We weren't going to get a new soap dispenser, but after reading this thread, I thought, "I don't want ugly bottles on my new granite!" I could do a rack mounted on the sink cabinet door, but I think the dispenser is neater :-) It just needs a long spout so it can actually squirt dish soap into the pots, instead of dribbling down the side of the sink. Will definitely get a NeverMT--so glad that I heard of it here!...See MoreLooking for Kitchen faucet, water filter faucet and soap dispenser
Comments (12)@phemrajani Yes, all faucets must be R/O certified. If you use one that is not certified for R/O use, the pure water will bond with potentially dangerous metals and you will be ingesting all of that! Some faucets have trace (and legal) amounts of lead or other metals that should not be ingested. Regular water will not pull these metals out of the faucet. R/O water will. This is a quote from that article that might sum things up for you so you won't have to read the entire article. “Demineralised water that has not been remineralized, or low-mineral content water – in the light of the absence or substantial lack of essential minerals in it – is not considered ideal drinking water, and therefore, its regular consumption may not be providing adequate levels of some beneficial nutrients.”...See MoreDo you all like your kitchen's built-in soap dispenser?
Comments (22)Hm, sounds like Shannon_WI has the ticket! Since you *have* to have an air gap for inspection, you *have* to have a hole for that, right? Once inspection is over, you can choose to replace the air gap with a dispenser if your dishwasher has a high loop installed (as Shannon_WI said) or if you want to keep the air gap, you can get a combo air gap and soap dispenser. While it's usually possible to drill holes after installation (though definitely dusty messy and not to be preferred!), it's impossible to un-drill a hole. Yes, there are little plugs that can be put in but those are sure not as attractive as your beautiful stone countertop. I have had a Never Empty that I got a lot of exercise from because I had to pump pump pump to get any soap from it. I have had a top-fill dispenser that, no matter what I tried including long straws, would get air bubbles while filling that caused the soap to overflow onto the sink and counter. These could easily just be my personal soap deficiencies so YMMV! I currently have a soap/dish soap/ lotion triumvirate from Williams-Sonoma that I can refill as I like, doesn't fall over, and always works. Winner for my very particular (lack of soap-dispenser-filling) set of skills!...See MoreKitchen sink soap dispenser "hack"
