Door latch or lock for HFGH 10x12 sliding doors?
Comments (38)I don't have weatherstripping on the door panels but since aluminum is such a good conductor I covered my doors with the good bubble Insulation from Charlie's. Their is not room on the inside door needs to open so I put it on the outside. I live in Northern Indiana and it gets cold here so I have mine well insulated....See MoreNeed info on car alarms!! Comments (3)***SIGH*** I hear you! Where I "used" to live in PA,we could go away for a week and let the door unlocked.Here...we had to put up locked gates because the freaks back the alley have teenagers that think it's ok to walk in my carport and take...my lawnmower and our tools when they need money. We learned the hard way that this isn't our small hometown....now we lock everything up.Wonder what the kids back the alley are doing for money these days? Brats! Then they come past and say"good Evening" real sweet! Grrrrr! The neighbor saw them taking my stuff ,I should have called the cops but he wasn't SURE which kid it was. There are about 5 of them back there.More on any given day. Cops are always back there.Only bad family on our street! (Of course there's only 5 houses here counting the one on the corner.)...See MoreHelp! Comments (5)I would be worried about vinegar damaging the paint and corroding the metal of the lock, but am not sure if these are valid concerns or not. If you can run an extension cord, a hair dryer will get you in there pretty quickly. While it's not frozen, you can also make sure the lock is well lubricated with WD-40 which would help ice fall off easier if it did form. You can also rub a little oil around the rubber seal so it's less likely to freeze the door shut. Never park in deep slush in the evening or your car may be stuck to the ground in the morning. I would also turn off the heat in the car a little before getting home if it was snowing. If that stuff doesn't melt on the car so much, it's not an ice sheet, it's so much easier to get off. Moved here from OH a few years ago. I don't miss this stuff at all!!...See MoreUser
