Comments (0)We are considering using Frostine for our walls (instead of using BM White 01 again) in the kitchen/LR/DR....; it is the "whitest" Affinity white. If you've used it, how does it "read" (white? off?)? It appears to be identical in intensity (brightness) to the 01, but warmer, which I might want (01 is a bit more stark white perhaps). I love my white walls, but since we're re-painting, thought I'd look at another white or two to see if I like either of them any better. The other color in contention is Chantilly Lace. The sample patches I painted appear much lighter/brighter in intensity than the other two whites; is it too much so when the entire room is painted with it (e.g. blindingly white)? Please don't suggest any other whites. I know everyone has his/her faves, but I've narrowed my choices deliberately (and need to decide soon!). Note: whichever white we choose, we will be using Aura paint in a matte finish on the walls and ceilings, and the same color in the Aura satin finish for the base moldings. All doors and door jambs are a light-stained oak. Thanks!...See MoreNow: The Whitest White for my Trim
Comments (21)You have lots of great suggestions and I don't know anything about paint color but I will just mention something that I did many years ago. We were moving from out of state to a home that we were going to redecorate and needed to remove all the wall paper through out the entire house. I was living in another state waiting for our house to sell so my visits to the "new" house was every other week or so. After all the paper was removed, I decided to just paint the whole house a light cream with white trim. Got lots of paints chips, picked out the two colors - looked just great together in the light of the new house. My DH had a painter come in to paint the whole house before we moved in any furniture. I show up one day before the painter is almost finished. Open the front door and ugh - something is definitely wrong! Seems I did not know the first basic rule of white - there is such a thing as a "cool" white and a "warm" white. I had chosen one of each and they looked just dreadful when up on the walls and trimmed together. Luckily, we were able to call in a decorator who quickly picked a color to change the walls with (to repaint the trim and doors would have been too expensive and time consuming) and we were able to move in with no delay. So my only advice as far as paint color goes is . . . with a light cream on the walls, be sure the white works - don't just rely on the paint chip. I think your inspiration picture is very calming and serene. HTH a little. Chris...See MoreSuggestions for warm neutral off-white for interior paint
Comments (10)Is your lighting in ? If not forget choosing wall colors. Get sample cans and narrow your choice to 3 that you like not tons or you will never get this done. All your lighting should be LEDs in 4000K to make the colors stay true at night. I would keep this simple do thewalls in whatever color you choose in a matte finish and use the same color for the trim but in semigloss it will look like a different color just because of the sheen. IMO this si too soon to be choosing wall colorat all I know builders always want to have the paint done before the floors .IMO I would not do white at all since there are so many undertones with whites I would choose a soft gray/ green instead like Healing Aloe BM I find those types of colors much more neutral the beiges, grays or whites it is what I choose when builders are pushing for paint color....See Morepeggysue_1975
