Dacor MOR130 vs Electrolux vs Bosch wall oven?
Comments (24)Good luck with yours theanimala. I'm with you on the regular Electrolux over the Icon. To correct some of my earlier comments, I looked at the regular Electrolux again at Lowes last night. It does have a grill below the control panel that vents directly out into the room and there are vent holes at the top and bottom of the door that apparently draw air from the kitchen down between the door panels and out the bottom. I guess this is to keep the door cool??? Then I went to look at the other ovens on display. All have some venting at the top but many are smaller than the one on the Electrolux and some have small louvers to direct it up or down. Most of the ovens, including my Dacor, also have slots above the oven box (between the broiler and the control panel) that line up with slots in the section of the door when the door is closed. It looks like the air flows from above the oven box, then down between the door panels and out the bottom. Does anyone know if there's a major difference in functionality between the two methods? I'm pretty much sold on the regular Electrolux as long as it doesn't make the kitchen significantly hotter than other models. As to my concern about the continuous gap between the glass panels on the Icon door, I had to laugh when I justlooked at my Dacor oven and it had the exact same thing. ALL the ovens have vents, thus the ability to get gunk between the layers of glass but this does give a little easier access. I guess reading a post about someone getting gunk between the glass of their brand new Meile made me a little paranoid. OTOH, the glass on my oven door is black so you wouldn't be able to see any gunk between the panels anyway. I'd still be a little nervous about all that open access to glass on the Icon....See MoreOvens: Miele vs. Advantium + Wolfe
Comments (8)Take the time to do a search here in GW, on the main appliance page, just use your "back arrow" to get to the appliance page, and then at the bottom of the page, type in Miele Oven. If you don't do this, you "could be" stressed more than You are now. There are a number of reports here, as well as other web-sites, where posters are complaining about "Low Temperatures" on the Miele ovens, sometimes as low as _50F from the set temp and some instances of -100F. We have seen no posts, so far, that this problem has been resolved. Do all Miele ovens have this problem??? Nope but if you are into "Crap Shoots" then do as the saleman suggest, Yes they may be "Better Built", but to me, that means when you tell it what to do--IE heat to 400 F, to me, "Better Built" means it would do it time and time again, as does the Electrolux Icon oven I've had for >5 years now and trouble free and always spot on temp wise. Rhome has had good luck with her Wolf oven, so another place to look. As many of us here Mention, Not one manufacturer makes the best of everything, Miele makes great Speed ovens and dishwashers, almost a sure bet on those---at least according to the info available to us, at the present time, their ovens are not in the same category as above! Good luck on your Hunt!!! Gary...See MoreGE Monogram Ovens vs Miele Ovens
Comments (5)HOLY COW BATMAN! If you can Miele ovens at that price I would never look back. Where did you find those prices? I am planning on buying the Miele so I can't give you an first hand advice since I don't have them installed yet. There are quite a few threads here about both of those brands and particular ovens. Check out the search function at the bottom and you'll find lots of info. Probably more than you want to take the time to read!! Buying appliances has been quite an education for me! There are owners of both here who will chime in, I am sure. I would appreciate your feedback as well. Thanks, Robin...See MoreBest wall oven/speed oven combo that is not wolf
Comments (12)Reviving this thread because we're in almost the same position: putting in a 36" Wolf rangetop and trying to decide on a 30" wall oven/speed oven combo. The Wolf oven flaking issues concern me, as I use the oven at 500 degrees to bake bread and I've heard frequent high heat can exacerbate the issue. Thermador looks good, as does Miele (for those who don't need service). And any feedback on why to choose CSO over speed oven? We'd hoped to eliminate the need for a separate microwave . . ....See MoreBryna Chang
