GE Monogram Ovens vs Miele Ovens

I am considering the following two oven choices and was wondering if anyone could give me any feedback- good or bad opinions; if you own them or know someone who does; and would you rebuy them? I am listing the prices I was given and wonder what you think about them.

Choice A

GE Monogram 30", Advantium Integrated Speed Oven, ZSC2201N, $2494.

GE Monogram 30" Single Oven- Convection, ZET1R $2738.

Choice B

Miele Speed Oven 24", H4042BMSS, $1874.

Miele Trim Kit for Speed Oven, EBA5476, $340.

Miele 30" Single Oven-Convection, H4842BPSS, $2774.

I have considered many brands, including Wolf, Viking, Equilux and Thermador and have narrowed it down to these choices. Thanks for your time in helping me figure this out.

HOLY COW BATMAN! If you can Miele ovens at that price I would never look back. Where did you find those prices?

I am planning on buying the Miele so I can't give you an first hand advice since I don't have them installed yet. There are quite a few threads here about both of those brands and particular ovens. Check out the search function at the bottom and you'll find lots of info. Probably more than you want to take the time to read!! Buying appliances has been quite an education for me!

There are owners of both here who will chime in, I am sure.

I would appreciate your feedback as well.

We have the monograms and LOVE them. Two friends have now copied our combo they have been so impressed. The regular (well, convection) oven bakes beautifully. I did 24 cupcakes crammed onto one rack, and they all rose and baked evenly. I was very impressed. And the Advantium....=my best friend.

Please don't type in all caps. Its considered yelling. I was looking at these two models too. I'm leaning away from the KitchenAid (assuming you are looking at the new Architect II models) because they are much lower in power (watts) in each of the modes (bake, broil, convection). For the price difference, the Monogram seems to me a better choice.

You might check into Fisher & Paykel, making sure you have service available in your area. You ruled out Electrolux? Both of those have glide racks, and in my experience the F&P is superb for baking. But still, I'd take my chance on the Bosch before I'd spend for the Monogram. The answer to your original question is, after having one, I don't see a reason to shell out any extra to have it. It is attractive to look at... By the way, mine worked correctly for how it was engineered to work -- It wasn't just a 'lemon'...But the limited rack positions, the inability to adjust the temperature in less than 25 degree increments, and, mostly it's inability to achieve and maintain the temp, with its engineered heat-recovery response to kick on the preheat mode so the result was burned baked goods, make it a lesser option than the Bosch, IMO. I think the difference in those who like it and those who hate it is how much they bake vs how much they roast meats, cook casseroles, heat frozen food, etc. The Monogram is OK for meats, etc., and probably even for the occasional cake or batch of cookies, just not for avid bakers who need accurate and even heat, and consistency. Last year we built a new home and went with the Monogram. I wanted the handles, gas stove and the 240 Advantium. We are now currently building our 2nd new home, but I am preferring the Profile's handles this time.. and just don't feel the price difference is worth it, since I have been told that they really are identical, except for exterior features and price.

fenworth, We've made the TJ cookies tons of times at home using a GE Profile oven (as stated in my original post). We also made them in a Wolf oven at a Wolf center. In both the GE and the Wolf, the cookies come out fairly "normal", even when the dough is completely defrosted (which is not recommended). We did return to Miele, used a different oven in the store, and got the same flatter-than-flat cookies, even with a TJ box that was bought 15 minutes before entering the Miele store. I can't say whether or not the grease filter was installed during cookie baking - as a newbie to the Miele oven, that's not something I would have been aware of (I kind of hope the people working at the Miele center know how to use their own ovens.) Maybe it's this particular Miele store installation, or this particular cookie dough recipe, but there's definitely something different about the way the Miele ovens we've tried bake these cookies.

There really is no comparison. Miele is the highest quality appliance product available.The repair rate is almost non existent and the master chef controls are the easiest to use. With that being said Monogram is good for a price point but if you truly enjoy cooking you will not be dissappointed with the Miele.

I just ordered the 220 version of the Miele speed oven. What factors made you decide to get the 110 version? Was this a decision based on price Alone?
