Comments (7)Beautiful space! If it were my room, I'd probably be inclined to put the TV on the wall you mention: to the right of the patio doors. It would keep the fireplace a visual focus when walking into the room, but still allow you to enjoy the view. Because of that, I would probably pick a sectional that runs along the right wall and then juts out into the room across from the fireplace. I'm a big fan of "bumper sectionals" since they don't have a back on the end. That would give a better line of sight to the fireplace. If you don't like sectionals, maybe a couch on the wall across from the patio doors / TV wall. Then two chairs facing the fireplace or a love seat if you prefer. I look forward to seeing what you do with the room....See MoreLiving room/dining room design help please!
Comments (3)I think you are right for the living room. Is the shelving unit going? I would replace with something that takes less space - unless you actually have a lot of books you can't part with. You said TV - if possible I would mount it on the wall to save space and get a smaller unit or electric fireplace underneath. For the kitchen I would consider a round or square table - but if rectangular is what you have then I would place the longer side against the currently mirror wall; and have 2 chairs along the wall side and a bench along the opposite side. Not sure what size the space is but if on the smaller side, the bench would allow you to seat more people without crowding the space up with chair, chair, chair, chair. :)...See MoreLiving Room/Dining Room Combo - design help!
Comments (1)Cute place, i see the challenge, but I am really against a sectional in this space let alone for guest to have to sit next to each other it creates a weird dynamic. I hope you are not planning to put the tv over the fireplace that would also be a neck breaker. I see the couch on the side the two red chairs. the tv on the wall with the lockers and 2 chairs to the dining room side....See MoreHelp me design our Dining room!
Comments (11)Joanna, I think the rug looks fine, but would look better with an overall pattern rather than center medallions. The color is perfect, without the orangy part. Your dining set is traditional. The rug is tribal. I'm all for blending the two, but if there are very few items in the room, it's hard to blend styles successfully. Let me say it this way, the chandy and the rug go great together, the dining set is odd man out. Use a rug and art to bring the two together by going with a "not so tribal" rug. I notice also the rug is distressed and your dining set is very elegant and polished. If you had many of both and in-between styles, it could work, but not with just two items. I agree with bringing in some texture in the drapes and artwork. I know that artwork is just an example, but use that example to not bring in the icy blue white in the photo, it clashes with the off white wall. The rug looks great in your kitchen, which is stunning! The other thing that caught my (way too sensitive) eye is the cross bar on the chairs. If it were my room, I would paint the cross bars the same color as the fabric. It's visually distracting in the photo, but might not be in real life. I absolutely love everything in your kitchen, such a gorgeous house!...See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
